In my opinion, this article has a sensationalistic title but doesn't really follow it up. I also don't have any idea how many Koreans read the K Times or how accurately it reflects people's views.

"The president says concerned countries should share a common understanding of the North Korean missile issue. What country's failure to share a common understanding has caused any problems? The Security Council resolution was unanimously approved by all 15 council members. Even China, the North�s staunchest ally, supported it, and the Chinese president reconfirmed Beijing�s support at the G8. Concerned countries, in other words, share an unprecedented common understanding, and the only odd one out besides the culprit is South Korea.

The president is perhaps concerned about this lack of common understanding because the rest of the world does not see the problem as he does. But until it accepts that North Korea�s missiles threaten international security, not just South Korea, Seoul will find itself isolated in the international community and a laughing stock to boot."

My point is that key influential elements in Korean society are appalled at how the Roh administration has handled the missile tests. It's a safe bet that foreign governments know Roh does not represent the whole of Korean society.

South Korea has a pretty kick-butt military. I doubt they need the U.S. help to defeat the north.

It would be a pretty ugly war though. But, of course, the south would win.

There shouldn't even be two Koreas. It's retarded. War or unification is inevitible.

The South would win a war against the North but I agree that it would be extremely costly. Seoul would be devastated and perhaps Korea would never fully recover. I think the USA should cut them loose. Let them fend for themselves for a change. Taxes would certainly go up to and people would start to b*tch about how the Americans deserted them. What is the Korean word for ungrateful?

Both the Koreas need a wake up call to reality. War is the traditional method.

Perhaps afterwards you'll have a generation of young Koreans gratefult ot the US again. At the moment they're living in a fools paradise.
