It seems to me, mr/ms jacl that there is absolutely NO ONE that can help you. After reading all the responses to your rantings, a good teacher would have appreciated all the kind folks out there who were willing to help you. An good experienced teacher would welcome any kind of input. I have been an ESL teacher for 16 years and have improved my methods and approach to teaching greatly by listening to others and taking their advice. You have shot down everything sent your way. You obviously just don't quite get it. You're obviously aren't a professional teacher, either. So, my advice to you is to go home and work at Kmart. Methinks you thrive on challenging the world... which is your enemy.
OK bring on the caustic remarks and profanity... You are good at that if nothing else.... |
Well aren't we high on ourselves. The almighty 16-year, King Poop of Turd Peninsula veteran! The last person I'd take any advice from (not that my thread was title "Please Help Me!!) would be someone who's been stuck here for 16 years. Oh boy! Korea for 16 years. Good times!

Let him be. If he keeps going on like that , in a few months we'll probably read a post from him asking for help because his boss is firing him . |

jacl...everyone has a bad day...or two, but mate...there is no sense in shooting everyone down here. They may not be offering what you want or need, but they are taking the time to post.
After reading the OP and the subsequent replies, I guess you don't really want anything.
Take a holiday man....quickly. |

Neh? This makes no sense!
I wasn't being condescending you sensitive teddy bear! I've seen you post on other threads that you use a K/E dictionary with students in class, so I assume you have enough skill to understand some things they say.
Last week I taught my younger students to say "What did you say?" and "Just a minute, please." This week I taught "How do you say ____ in English?" These are common things they say in Korean, so I jump on them (literally--I got leet balancing skillz) if they say them in Korean and make them practice the English.
Last year I made signs for common expressions and posted them on the wall, but that ended up producing limited results.
Go have some wine.

Now here's an idea. I know I speak much better in other languages when I have had a bit to drink. Just spike the school milk. All will be fine |

Yes, I'm sorry everyone. I was just riding a crazy wave.
Thing is, I didn't even care today about students speaking Korean. I go into to work with a smile on my face and my boss is as happy as a pig in *beep*.
What happened was really no big deal. I was just ranting and lacking sleep.
Vacation is July 28-Aug 7. Still haven't decided where I'm going.
Anyway, peace. |

From reading your posts, I can tell that you are a mostly negative person with extreme hostility towards korean and probably koreans.
Good luck in your persuit of a "noise"less class.
My job is to teach Korean children English.Korean parents are very pleased with my work. If you can say the same, good for you.
We all do our jobs differently.
But two Koreans, both fluent in English, will not speak to each other in English. Why is that?
The goal of language is communication. |

Perhaps I've set some different goals than you. Anyway, I have a beer. |

Probably yours is to make them feel ashamed of their language, mine is to have them see learning a new language is fun.
These are kids we're talking about aren't they?
What would you think of you when you were their age? |

Chocolate frown.
Anyway, I know you've been stressed out jacl, if you're still doing that crazy split shift you posted about. That would put a lot of us in negative moods. People being all judgmental toward you are being too, you know.. judgmental. I used to think you were a serious arsehole when you first started posting here, but quickly came to understand your sense of humor.
A lot of folks here are a bit too huggly cuddly to understand humor that isn't delivered on a banana peel.
Cheers,
