so i'm sitting in a little park outside my friend's school in dangsan, seoul, today when this big truck rips through spewing monstrous, thick white clouds of what i learned was pesticide. there's folks all around, lots of kids, and this cloud billows like three stories high and spreads visibly over like 100 sq yds. this seems to me F*CKING STUUUUUUPID particularly cause even though i fled i still inhaled the stuff. anybody know about this phenomenon and any possible hazards i should be concerned about--instant sterilization, spontaneous metastic cancers, etc ?? no wonder these people can't make babies anymore.

Not trying to be a jerk, but I thought that bit was extremely funny. I pictured you sitting on a bench in a park, and upon seeing the truck, leaving all your things behind and runing away, screaming "SAVE YOURSELVES!" whilst the rest of the people in the park stand perfectly still with quizzical looks on their faces.

Hey, I'd do the same thing. Let us know if you find out what compounds they use.

It's been going on for many years. Korean kids chase the trucks, right into the thick of it--you'd think it was an ice cream truck.

Will there ever be a year on Dave's when the moggie man thread won't mention "icecream van"? Ever? Ever ever? I don't think so. The MoggieMan and His Van of Noxious poisons man will be forever linked with ice cream. In fact it's getting to my head. I think I'm going to frolick and play in the fumes of the next moggie man who drives by in the hopes of getting some ice cream.

EEeerrm,.... unrelated, but I've got a mate who, whenever he sees an ambulance blitzing along at full speed sez :

"That dude should slow down, He'll never sell any ice-creams that way"

Even though he says it every bloody time, I still get a smile out of it!

Pesticide Exposure Damages Nervous System, Brain
In laboratory tests with rats, the researchers found that pesticide exposure caused changes in the same areas of the brain involved in multiple sclerosis, epilepsy, Parkinson's disease and Alzheimer's disease.

Pesticides can also cause severe damage to the gastrointestinal system and cause neurological dysfunction, the researchers said.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has more about health risks from pesticides.
