|
|
| I lived in a small country town for five years, near Cheong-ju, and used to drive 30km into work everyday. I had a house surrounded by hills and rice fields, and the town was pretty much low key. Life was pretty mellow and regular. Anyway, I moved to Incheon at the end of last year for more money and a better position. Got a new Office-Tel with 24 hour nightlife all around. The problem is, 9 months down the track I'm a completely different person. I haven't read a book the whole time I've been here. rarely get to sleep before 5 in the morning and then sleep until 2 in the afternoon, and stopped exercising (put on truck loads of weight). I could go on and on. Back in NZ I lived my whole life in a small town , so this is my first experience of city living. I guess it's not for me. I just want to know if anyone out there has had any similar problems. |

| I completely understand and can relate. Although I have lived in my fair share (too many for my liking) of cities over the years, I agree with you that us "country chickens" would generally be better off in the sticks (although not in the SAME sticks our whole lives, just different kinds of sticks in different and various parts of the world). Besides, I think big cities kind of look and feel the same all over, from country to country. There is A LOT more to life than more money and a better position... |

Rarely? Don't you have a job?

Honestly, it doesn't sound the the City is the problem, it's you. Not trying to attack you or anything, but if you are going to bed at 5am every day...well, damn. That's your problem right there.
And if for some medical reason you are physically unable to sleep until 5am, what are you doing with all that spare time? I can't see you working much later than midnight. Why not join a 24 hour gym and lose some of that weight you've put on? Or read a few books till 5am?
Get off your butt and do something productive! Saying things have changed because you moved is a cop out. |
