I want to make tofee apples (candy apples to all non-Brits) in my Summer camp but I need to buy golden syrup. Without it, I can't make them. Does anyone know if it is available over here, or what the Korean equivalent is? |

No, they don't sell it and no, there isn't a Korean equivalent.
Get your mum to send you a couple of cans.. like my mum does once every so often! |

according to this recipe, apparently you can substitute light corn syrup for golden syrup, its called 'mul yut' in korean
Ingredients:
2 pounds (1 kilo or 5 cups) demerara (light brown) sugar
Nut of butter
1 small teaspoon vinegar
1 desertspoon golden syrup (or light corn syrup)
Half cup water
Sticks for holding the toffee apples (ice lolly sticks do at a pinch)
Method:
Stir together the sugar, vinegar, syrup and water and heat until boiling, stirring continuously. Continue on a slow boil for 5/7 minutes, stirring occasionally. Insert the stick into the core of each apple and dip the apples into the mixture. Place on a greased tray, with the sticks in the air, until dry. |

Great recipe, Gwen..
But mul yut tastes different - I am sure you know golden syrup has a very distinctive taste! |

You'll never find it in Korea. I brought two large bottles with me when I came this time. Sorry, I can't spare any. |

Toffee apples to me too, thank you very much! And I'm not British!
I have never heard of 'candy apples' before.
And even if you could find it here, I can only guess the price would be ridiculous. Just look how much their awful honey tastes. |

You can order some online from here. I've used them before and they are prompt and professional. |

We call them candy apples in Canada, at least out West. Actually, the red ones are candy apples, the other ones are caramel apples. They also roll them in nuts or other candy sometimes. Man, they are good. |
