To quote myself, I have the regrettable character flaw of not being British. So I haven't heard much anti-Oliver rhetoric, though I'm well-aware that many Britons detest him.
Me, I find him a swell guy. His show is interesting in a "nothing else on TV" kind of way; and despite being absolutely retarded when it comes to naming children, he's OK in my books.
Definitely better than that cocksucker Emeril. That's for sure.

I just want to note that I should have written "fat-tongued ponce" instead of "lisping ponce".
And that I'm not wearing any pants.

He's not bad.
Yeah, he did go for the 'new lad' image too much in his early years but he's way more real now.
Of course, I've never, ever, tried to make anything he does. |

It's usually cool, but The Iron Chef is way cooler. I think it's on "on style' channel on friday mornings. |

I think he's all right. That show, "Jamie's school dinners" was a good idea. It was strange how much resistance he encountered trying to get kids to eat healthy food. Usually many would not like it at first, but then get used to it and like it more than the crap they were used to before he introduced the decent meals. |

I'd rate Jamie slightly above the Iron Chef and WAY above that Emeril guy. He's useless.
Thank you for sharing about your pantslessness. |

the one where he got the restaurant going with all the unemployed kids was good.
I use to like watching the Fat Ladies/ One of them died though. Enjoyed watching them make the absolutely most fattening, but mouth-watering food. They seemed to go out of their way to add bacon to everything, or lard. Then they would enjoy a cigarette and scotch after the cooking. |

The Two Fat Ladies were great. They had lots of what is actually cool about the British upper-class.....They don't give a flying feck what anybody thinks.

Jamie Oliver is class. What he's done to school dinners in the last year has been immense. Teachers now love the guy. |

Yes, good call. The fish pie was a regular in the SPIN household when back home. Delicious and, best of all, very English.
I went through a phase when I hated JO because his fame seemed to have gone to his head and he rather had an aura of 'arrogant, c_ckney little tw*t' about him, but he made his way into my good books with excellent shows like Jamie's School Dinners and the one where he got a load of bad school kids from crap schools in London to work in his new restaurant. Very good fare indeed. Koreans, especially teenage girls, often ask me do I like him, so he's a bit famous here too. Anyone know why specifically? |

One reason: He's on TV. On Style. |

My wife is also into him. I find him more tolerable than that iron chef guy. Man is that guy abrasive. He has no problem telling someone he's a fucking loser. And the mouth on him. Holy shit! It's amazing they have him on tv. I'd love to see someone finally have enough of him and kick the everlovin' crap out of him. Now, that would make for some good viewing. |

Can't stand American Iron Chef.Japanese Iron Chef, with the Kitchen stadium President leering around in his pirate-wear,thats way better.
JO did become a pompous arse.Really don't need to know about his family.....
His tips are quite good though.I can fillet a fish properly now.Ta much. |

I dig him. It's hard to make cooking shows fresh and interesting, and he does it with flare and panache...but I really like the older English guy, forget the name, the one that gets really sloshed on red wine as he cooks, he's often three sheets to the wind by the end of it, classic stuff...he's clearly a ponce, but a drunk ponce is fine in my book... |
