How is that guy still doing it? He is 83 and still going strong.
(I thought of this watching Happy Gilmore yesterday, incase you were wondering). |

What a surprise! :
A man who lives by his convictions, Barker has been a vegetarian since 1979. "My wife who died in 1981 had been a vegetarian for years. When I became a vegetarian," he explained, "I gave up red meat and fowl, and gradually fish and dairy products as well. I did it out of concern for animals, but I have certainly learned why so many people are becoming vegetarians out of concern for health reasons. I can control my weight better than before, I feel better, I have more energy, and I think that it is certainly a healthful way of life."

Don't confuse him with the inconsistencies in his mad rush to prove to himself dancing and banging a gong is on par with science.
You see a lot of boozing, smoking, burger eating rooming house geezers on public transit and you're amazed they're still going strong after all those years. |

Vegetarians aren't allowed to die? How do you know she died from lack of meat, anyway? Maybe she was run over by a bus.
Bob Barker is a good guy who gives a lot of money to animal charities, and his pro-spaying and neutering message has undoubtedly saved many animals. |

You are so bloody blinded by your animal rights and vegetarianism it actually makes many of your posts funny. Rteacher was saying Bob was most likely alive and doing well because of his vegetarianism while in the same post saying his wife, a long time vegetarian had died a long time ago. The irony I see is lost on you
But you are right, he is a good guy for trying to help. Just to make sure, I am not against what you stand for, just I am against PETA idiots like you (I don't actually know if you belong to PETA though).

I can't remember when I read this but, apparently, he's also a black belt in karate. I read that he studied with Chuck Norris for quite a long time. I don't remember him using any karate in Happy Gilmore. Good thing for Adam Sandler, I guess. |

HAMILTON, Bermuda (AP) -- A fisherman was recovering from surgery after he was speared in the chest and knocked into the Atlantic Ocean by a blue marlin during a fishing competition off Bermuda's coast.
Ian Card, 32, was in stable condition at King Edward VII Hospital in the British Island territory from a wound that his doctor said could have been fatal.
"He was very lucky," said Dr. Christian Wilmsmeier. "It was a very serious injury."
Card and his father, Alan, both operators of a charter fishing boat and experienced marlin fishermen, had just hooked the fish Saturday when it suddenly leapt out of the water, impaled Ian Card just below his collar bone and knocked him into the ocean.
"The fish all of a sudden changed direction and jumped. The fish made a leap and Ian just happened to be in the way," Alan Card said.
The younger fisherman managed to struggle free while his father cut the line and helped his son get back into their boat, the Challenger.
They managed to make it back to shore in about 40 minutes for emergency medical treatment.
The fishermen estimated the marlin at about 800 pounds (363 kilograms) and about 14 feet (4.3 meters) in length.

Bob Barker is doing his best to live a responsible life and there's nothing wrong with the quote Rteacher posted. Nothing "ironic" about it, either. Vegetarianism is a very healthy life choice, but no one ever said it guaranteed immortality. If Barker had said, "My wife, who died in 1981, had been a non-smoker for many years ..." would that be ironic too? The was a nonsensical response to a perfectly rational statement.
Rteacher, thanks for posting it. |

Good for the fish. Anyway, if you have to call me names maybe you don't have much of an argument behind your position (whatever it is). |

How can you not see the irony? It's as plain as anything. No one is saying she died because she was a vegetarian or that there is anything wrong with Rteachers post, but that does not take away from the irony of those two statements he made at all.
The non-smoker thing would have been ironic if Rteacher had said non-smoking had been the reason for his long life.
How can you not see the irony? |

I'm not arguing anything. Just pointing out the irony in Rteacher's post. I am not arguing against vegetarianism or animal rights, just you. Where did I fight against those things? There is no argument here, you are just in normal PETA persecution mode. Idiot. |
