If anyone is living or has lived in Hanam City before, any information would be appreciated.
How much is a taxi ride to...
Apugujeong?
Itaewon?
Hong Dae?
How long do the above taxi rides take?
How long does it take by bus to...
Apugujeong?
Itaewon?
Hong Dae?
How close is the nearest subway station?
Any other information about life in Hanam City would be greatly appreciated. |

Hmmm Hanam-si eh...? You're nearest subway station will be Gangdong, takes about 20/25 mins on the bus. You can catch the 341 to Gangnam station but this takes a LONG time (an hour at least). Itaewon is basically 1 hour door-to-door via bus and subway, but quicker in a taxi. Taxi will charge in the region of 25-30000 depending on the driver. Dunno about Apgujeong cos i've never done it. I once got a taxi back to Hanam from Hongdae for 30000 but I think I was pretty lucky...
Hanam-si is small town Korea, but I actually quite like living here. The one thing lacking is a decent bar, and most of the foreigners tend to drink at outdoor chicken and beer/family mart kinda places. However, there is a pretty good group of foreigners living here, and if you're at all sociable you should be fine. PM me if you wanna know more.... |

I lived in Hanam city in '97, for a year. Sounds like it's improved some. Those were rough days, or perhaps it was just me. Used to work in Myeong Il Dong, Seoul and it was only about 15 minutes by bus. Going further into Seoul, I always went to KyungByong station, near Chamshil. Could do that in less than 40 minutes if the traffic was OK. They hadn't even finished building the Techno Mart place back then and I thought they were never going to. However, that's some distance away from the Itaewon area.
There used to be a US military base just out of Hanam, called Camp Colburn, but I don't think it's there anymore. Even the soldiers were never seen in Hanam and foreigners were really scarce. I had all the attention at one or two great little drinking spots until a few of the local boys would show up and almost tar and feather me out of town.
Would love to go back and visit the place again. Good to hear it's a little more foreignized. |
