Ahh.. I don't think Korea has much in the way of strange food. I mean, really, what can compare to eating raw fish crap or sucking the marrow out of a pig bone with a straw? Seriously... nothing can compare to that.

One of the regualr side dishes, not sure of the name, but it's a green leaf in red sauce, but not kimchi. Anyway, I've been eating this stuff for a long time until one day I was looking closely at it for some reason, and saw that there were tiny (oh, maybe 1/2 the size of a fruit fly tiny) worms crawling around in the stuff. I notify my Korean friend and the waitress, point out the almost-microscopic worms, and they both said, "It's supposed to be that way, silly foreigner! When the worms come you know it is ready to take out of storage and serve for dinner."

I went to a strange restaurant the other day. It looked like American style foods, but the portions were enormously oversized. Strangely enough, it looked as if a lot of chemicals had been added to the food to make it all appear more tempting. The lettuce was a bright green color, beef had a pink/red tint to it that couldn't have been naturally cooked or processed that way, considering that everyone who ordered the same stuff at different tables all had food that looked exactly the same. The side dishes didn't look healthy like normal Korean fare, they had a lot of milk/cream/lard based stuff that also made it look very tempting, yet quite artificial.
The taste of the food was good, but after just a few bites, I found myself already full, as if there were a ton of MSG or other chemical fillers in the food. It seemed like the restaurant should have made the food sizes twice as small because every meal only required nibbling to create a sensation of feeling full.
The worst part of it was the after-effects. Sluggishness, acid-reflux/heartburn, burping, flatulence, and a big smelly dook later on. I must say, Bennigan's is the strangest restaurant I've been to in Korea. |

The raw stomach parts were kinda odd. A bit chewy, but kinda like menudo.
The weirdest was perhaps raw spinal cord.
That took a couple of shots of soju before I would eat it.
It was really mushy. But not all that bad until I started thinkin
about mad cows. |
