Who owns an "autobike".

I am really wanting to buy one now I just wanted peoples opinions of owning one in Korea.

Whats a good price for one?

What kind is a descent ride?

Is it worth geting a crotch rocket? ( I really want one)

I use to ride bikes quite a bit back home when I was younger Kawasaki Kx 250. Yeah it was dirt biking mostly never really driven anything else what is your take on the motorcycle bit?

I tried one of these a while ago...

But, for what it's worth: here here!

There are a LOT of nice roads in Korea. Buy the best bike you can afford. The Hyosung GT650R seems like a good deal -- new @ about 6 million. Used - obviously cheaper. Compares quite favorably to a Suzuki SV650S. Do a search on the internet.

I have a nice bike for sale in the buy/sell forum for only 1,000,000 won.
It's a kawasaki vulcan 500cc. It's not a crotch rocket style, more like a cruiser style. But it has the kawasaki racing engine with a drive belt instead of a chain. Which means racing caliber acceleration and lots of torque. It's strange to say, but it even has more acceleration and torque than larger engine bikes. I've tried larger bikes to compare.
PM me for questions.

it depends where you live. i can't imagine how functional a bike would be in seoul or incheon; it takes a few hours in any direction just to get out of the city. but if you're anywhere else, get a bike. sweet coastal roads, lush terrain, tiny rice-paddy roads that take you back in time... perfect for a bike.

Currently I have a honda 600f4i and love it to bits. Oh and I also live in seoul. But I am able to get out of the city quite a bit. Great fun.

Yeah I was always partial to naked ones. I don't really want to spend more then 1.5 mil unless its a real worth it. I don't know where I could store it, park it and when I finish my contract where to sell it.

http://www.harley-korea.com/

You can get a 883cc Sportster for W11,000,000, which, though alot, isn't crazy-silly compared to a 125cc Chinese motorcycle that I see selling for W2,500,000.

I'm thinking of getting one of these soon if I decide to hang out here for a few more years.

There were some online sites posted here once. Do a search.

I think one was www.bikemart.co.kr

Be ready with money in-hand. Prepare for the fact that you will not be able to get anything but comp insurance for a rice-burner/crotchrocket. So if you dump it, you pay all. The insurance companies don't want to insure them. Period.

Good bikes go fast when for sale. Most Korean bikes are ridden hard and sold when there is a problem. How you can enjoy a crotch-rocket in this stop/go/stop/go city is beyond me. I would think you'd get awful sick of clutching and shifting between first and second.

You also cannot drive them on the highways. So much for high-speed thrills.

I don't have a motorcycle in Korea, for the above reasons.

Anything over 125cc works and the real fun is in the mountains and back roads of this country. As I cruise through the countryside on a sunny afternoon with my mirrored helmet, the farmers and ajimas wave and smile. They obviously don't know that I am meekook, but I get a real kick and escapist rush from it every time. I work in the city and have figured out the quickest ways out of the city to quiet places in the country to meditate and chill between classes. But riding a motorcycle in the city is not for the slow-witted, it can be extremely dangerous and I say that from experience. I have gotten over confident and bit it a few times, but LUCKILY survived to ride another day, this time wiser. The best way to ride in the city is to avoid traffic and figure out alternative routes, and when confronted with an aggressive drive, pull over and let the idiot go by. Bikes can be a big kick, but like all things with a big pay off, they can be very risky. In Korea might is right so BE CAREFUL and have fun.
