I am so angry today, almost sick. I went on a hike with some co-workers and we stopped on a path near some buildings. As we rested we heard dogs screaming and barking like I had never heard in my life. I asked one of my co-workers what was going on, and she explained that they were beating dogs to death for their dog stew. I am so upset by this, my family has always had dogs and cats, and this made me so sick today. What can I do about this ?

You can refuse to eat boshington or keigogi. If you are really ambitious I am sure you can google and write to some international animal rights agency.

I am curious as to what other Asian countries eat dog meat? I am sure China does. Do Japanese eat dog meat? What about Thais or Indonesians? Anyone know?

Yesterday, I went through a market in a smaller town. On a side street, there were animals all stuffed in cages. In one of the cages, there was a dead puppy with the others stepping on it. Same thing with the kittens. It was horrible. I pointed it out to the owner, but he couldn't care less.

They eat dog in China, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand and many other nations.

In Japan they also eat shark fin soup but I guess sharks are not as fluffy and cute as rover so they don't ellicit the same amount of outrage and sickness. (Just to be clear, shark fin soup means they fish out the sharks, slice off the fins and toss them out in the ocean where they likely die).

They also eat other animals considered cute by us in China and other nations.

They eat monkey brains in certain parts of the world too.

Now its time to examine our views here and figure out that we should not always judge a peoples customs according to our own values.

Last week while I was out fishing in the mountains I came across a guy beating a black lab to death as it hung from a tree. I put down my rod and tackle and approached the man and kicked the living hell out of the guy, knocked him down while punching him. Really made him feel the pain. With my knife, I slashed off the rope that was strangling the dog and it dropped to the ground but it couldn't stand up since all of its legs were broken, along with its jaw and ribs. It was a wreck and in for a slow death. What to do?

Let me tell you: I started pounding on the guy some more as he tried to get up. I punched him in the face and then kicked him when he was down. It felt good. Once that was sorted, I had to finish off the dog with the knife to the throat. It was the only humane thing left to do: if you're going to kill animal for whatever reason, a quick death is the only way.

So Jinju, your cheap views of life in Korea mean little. And those two last words seem to sum you up very well: mean and little.
