It is 4 years old, a Toshiba Sattelite. Becuase I need to computer to do grades next week, I do not have the time to shop around for an Inverter and to get it repaired. Have been thinking about getting a Flatron screen. Now my question. If I plug in an external screen, should it work? Also, are these screens Plug-n-Play?

I have a Celeron as well.

Please advise

Look on the back of your machine. Does it have a monitor plug? (Yes, it does!) Yeah...it will work.

"Inverter". Sounds like it should be in the "video game weapon" thread. Wink

An RGB Port is the same as a monitor port? Right?

It will have a symbol like over the port that looks like this, " l0l ". Trust me, if your laptop isn't older than 10 years old, you have a monitor plug on it.

When you plug in the monitor, your computer will automatically bipass the normal connection to your laptop screen. Piece of cake.

Thank you for all of your help

I bought a 17 inch PC Bank TFT- LCD. PBM-1780A. It has negative ionization. Response time is 8MS, Brightness 300CD/m2
Contrast Rtaion 7:1 230.00

After having a 14 inch laptop screen this is quite nice.

I plugged it in and it want on with no problem and the laptop screen stays off.

I will order a new Inverter from e-Bay and have it installed on the laptop, or I will buy a desk-top

anyway, thanks again for the help
