Round 2:
Picnic/ Travel.
A terrible topic that I didn't choose.
Target Sentences:
I want to go to _________
________ has ________ ________ (list some adjectives and nouns together).
Where do you want to go?

I figure I'd do some brain storming. Definately take a map to class. The library is closed these days; too bad.

Probably also do "The memory game".

Start by asking students which countries they have been to. Write the names of the countries on the board (most likely China, Japan, America, Canada, etc...)
Under each country's name, brainstorm food like, America, hamburger. Next, each countries tourist attractions, landscape, or activities etc...
Where would you like to go on a picnic?
I would like to go to America. I would bring hamburgers, chips, and soda. The mountains are clean and pretty in America.
Even, have them tell you their favorite foods from around the world and try to make a picnic menu with those foods.

I found the best way to do these activities is to pick their brains as well.

A great way to introduce a lesson like this is write the names of your own family members on the board (ME ) in the middle. Students ask Who is ___? You state who she is using family vocab. Students must ask one additional question (ex. what does she do?). Then , cross it out. When all our crossed out. Finished.

Then give the kids 3 min to write on a blank piece of paper all family members and friends names (it can be in Korean). Then they take turns doing the same thing .

After they have crossed all names out. Have them switch papers with their partner and talk to another person. They tell about their partner. For example.....student asks -- who is Jihae? She is .....'s sister. She is a doctor...

Works like a charm and simple. To further this, have the students bring in 3 photos of family/friends the next lesson and talk and introduce in small groups....

Also, make sure as a teacher you have your own powerpoint of family photos. Use these to elicit questions, tell about yourself. Easy to make.

Wink
I wondered how long it would take.

Actually, I was just fishing for some ideas. They were far short on lesson plans but wicked activity ideas!
