Yeah.. not got much of a holiday this year with me back at work (gah), so we thought we'd visit taipei for a few days - 3 nights, to be precise.

What should we be doing during these 4 days? Flying with Cathay Pacific and the flight times are pretty decent - 9.30 leaving Incheon and return flight is 5 something from Taipei.

Shopping and eating are our main priorities.. sightseeing comes third. At least it is so in my agenda. Hubby puts resting, eating, sightseeing.... and then perhaps shopping on his list of important things to do.

I think I have relatives in Taipei - my grandfather's sisters are there, so we have cousins/uncles/aunts etc there but I don't know where they are.. lol... it's not likely that we will be visiting them anyway.

So... if you people have any good suggestions, fire away and let me know!

They have been hit by 3 typhoons already this year so keeping an eye on the weather would be a good thing.

4 days is more than enough.

Off the top of my head the area around the Taipei 101 building is good for shopping, the Lungshan night market has a really cool temple nearby and has an alleyway where one can load up on snake soup.

Lots of porn on sale everywhere and they sell big cans of Stella in the familymarts.

Sightseeing: the National Palace Museum, Taipei 101, and the Chiang Kai-shek Monument.

Eating: steamed pork dumplings, Peking duck, and seafood hotpot.

Green Leaf and Dintaifung are excellent, famous restaurants, but there are many, many, many more that are equally good.

Shopping: Shihlin Night Market, Weekend Jade Market, and Snake Alley.

Resting: Beitou is a hot springs center in the northern suburbs of Taipei.
Probably the only place to actually "relax" in Taipei

Also see Chinese opera at the Taipei Eye.

Hope this helps.
