Hawaii.

Fickle, I bet you are...

Or were you on a return visit?

Curious, too. I went there on a family vacation and was unimpressed.
We spent most of our time on Waikiki Beach and a day trip to Hana, Maui.
Did I miss something? Or does the place grow on you?

I left Asia and went to live in New York City and San Francisco at different times.. so running out of interesting cities to go back to.. Honolulu is so asian-centric, pacific-oriented, ideal climate, etc. So seems like it could be the place. Went to Spain/Austria last year for MA program.. realized Europe is good, but not for me - I miss the Asian cultures.

So its either Hawaii or somewhere in Southeast Asia (but only if i were a single man for life). I'm not so sure about being a single man for life though.

I'll be going back to Turkey this winter to buy a house on the Aegean coast, somewhere near Mugla. I have a specific place in mind, but will scout around for what's best. Threa has beautiful coast, mountains close by, historical sights, and the laid back, pleasant atmosphere of Turkey.

I don't know if I'm intruding but my dream home would be in Sotogrande, Spain.

Phillipines is quite cheap and strong comfortable western-style homes can be built for pennies on the dollar. You could probably pay $30,000 or more for a decent-sized 3BR home there. Downside is that it would probably be concrete block construction. Be sure that it's not on a flood plain or susceptible to mudslides.

I don't worry too much about location. I'd have to say if I were married, I want to live anywhere which was convenient for my family and affordable.

Australia, Canada, New Zealand, Cuba, Scotland, Ireland, Thailand, South Africa, Italy, Montana, Hawaii, Belize, Vietnam, Afghanistan or Iran (if they ever become more peaceful), Kerala, London, Norway, Tunisia, Morocco, Chile, Argentina. Any of the above would do just fine.

French Meditteranean, or southern Italy. Barring that one of the most beautiful places I've been, The British Virgin Islands. Anyone been to a Full Moon party at the Bomba Shack? Wink
