Hi.
Does anyone know about how long it will take to get the E-2 Visa issuance number once the school gets all the documents?
I have learned that it takes five days to process the visa at the Toronto Korean Consulate. I have found a very good price for the flight but it
leaves August 7th. The flight is approximately 300.00 Canadian dollars cheaper then any others I could find.
I would have a stop over in Narita, Japan. There is no connecting flight to Korea on that day but the airline will provide me witha hotel room, free of charge. Since I would have to stay in Japan overnight, and it only takes one day to process the visa there, maybe I should just stay an extra day and get my visa issued in Japan. What do you recommend?
Always with thanks and appreciation,

It takes between 2 hours and 4 days to get a visa issuance number (depending on the immigration office) after the school makes their application.
Why are you worried about the flight costs? Your employer is paying for it. Stay home and get your E2.
Then get on a plane.
You should have your employer PREPAYing the ticket anyway. The exceptioon to this is one of the Government run PUBLIC school programs (GEPIK, EPIK, SMOE)
Don't buy your ticket before you get the confirmation number in case there is some problem with the application or you may end up eating the ticket. This is especially true for deeply discounted and/or restricted tickets.
There is no Korean consulate/embassy in Narita. It is just the airport and airport city. You have to go into Tokyo for the Korean embassy (actually you want the consulate for the visa application).

Thanks! I have already done a search. The link you provided does not have any recent information and that is why I posted the question.
Best,

In Tokyo it takes longer than in either Osaka or Fukuoka to get your visa...I am under the impression it could be 5 working days(although it could depend on the whim of the person) as they don't process too many...
Also, Narita Airport(and the hotel where you will stay) is a long way from Tokyo itself, perhaps an hour at least so it would be a bit of a mission. I have stayed at the JAL hotel at narita many times and while nice, it isn't really anywhere near Tokyo...
You are much better off doing it in osaka or Fukuoka |
