Today's candidate for "Deserves to have his gonads slowly and painfully removed by animals with sharp teeth" is:
Mark Gary Bedford, Age 21, of Kingston, ON, Canada.

I have never seen this many victims involved, and [it is] safe to say that at this point in time, in this early stage of this investigation, we're looking at well in excess of 100, Det. Sgt. Goldschmidt said.
The case centres on allegations that a man would hack into the accounts of young girls, take control of their e-mail accounts and then contact people on their buddy lists pretending to be that individual. He would allegedly then persuade the victims to expose themselves on a Web cam, capturing the images.
From there, if the victims would not perform further acts, they would be threatened with having the images and movies posted to Web sites and sent to family and friends, Det.-Sgt. Goldschmidt said.
Victims were also threatened with rape, bodily harm and death if they did not co-operate, he said.
Police described the accused as being unemployed and living at home with his parents. Det. Sgt. Goldschmidt said there was no indication the accused was trying to make money from the images. |

I wish we still had the death penalty for cases like this. |

Yeah, I'd have to agree. On a moral level, the death penalty here is completely justifiable.
At the very least, he should be locked up for life as a dangerous offender. If it were up to me, he would receive special injections, preventing him from using his arms. |

Special injections? I have a more draconian idea. Just snip all his fingers off with garden shears--one at a time--he'll never be able to use a keyboard that well again. |

Honestly, I think that's the worst thing I've ever read on the Internet.
Can you imagine being the parent of that guy? I'd kick him out and disown him. |

No doubt he was waiting for 'the call' about the hakwon job in Seoul.
Yes, what he did was vile and disgusting. I hold no brief for blackmail. However, why were these girls flashing their boobies on the internet? |

Well, according to the article, the guy initially hacked into the e-mail accounts and then impersonated people on the buddy lists. So, as far as the first "flashings" go, the girls probably thought they were exposing their b-reasts to someone they knew, who was likely the same age as them. If that HAD been what they were doing, it wouldn't have been that much different from run-of-mill adolescent sex play.
If the gist of your question was: "where were the parents?", then I agree with you. I don't understand why girls in this age group would have unsupervised internet access. |
