Lactivists: Where is it OK to breastfeed?
I don't know where I stand on this, not because of it being bad, I think in a perfect society it wouldn't matter one bit, but is our pathetically sexually repressed North American society really ready for it?
Anyways, I liked this quote

 Oh please. Flashing? Hardly. All the women I have seen breastfeeding normally cover themselves with a towel or their top.
My sister is a big advocate of breastfeeding and no one fainted, turned purple or had a fit when they saw her breastfeeding.

Statement:
"I don't want my son or husband to accidentally see a breast they didn't want to see."
Translation:
"I want to decide which breast s my husband or son sees." |

i breast fed my son when i lived in the states with no inhibitions whatsoever. I think your size has something to do with it, though. in fact, I was just talking to my girlfriend about this a few days ago. she has big b00bs and it can be tricky for her son to latch on. thus, there is some clumsy fumbling going on there. i on the other hand remember popping it out anywhere, anytime, no problem. And I never once felt unwelcome stares coming my way.
the only difference between my experience in the states, and with my daughter, here; was that in Korea I was more mindful to use a scarf. |

I find this quote interesting.

It shows that the woman's problem is that she sees bReaSt-s as only sexual objects, whereas for me they seem to be very cleverly designed to produce and give milk for babies. I'm surprised that people had such a problem with the magazine cover--even nursing mothers. They need to get over their hang-ups.
Anyway, I think that the push toward breastfeeding is not going away soon, so people will have to accept more and more women nursing in public. Hopefully these opinions will be in the minority soon if they are not already.
edit: I can't believe you can't write bReaSt-s here at Dave's. Maybe this should be the next article about prudishness! |

It puts me in an awkard situation, but i really don't mind that much.
It is a perfect natural thing to do, it is just my upbringing that makes me feel itchy. People should get over it. A breast is a breast, there is nothing provocative about a woman breastfeeding her baby. |
