Greetings and salutations to all.

My boyfriend and I are looking for jobs in South Korea. As many other posts have already stated, we are considering Busan or Seoul. I have read every post in these forums about the topic, but I can't seem to be truly persuaded, or encouraged, rather, which one to decide upon. I have read all the negative and positive aspects of both cities, but I guess I am really looking to get out of the general redundancy of this topic, so I ask: Which place, out of the two, has the more unique shops, secret gardens, small, weird environments, etc.

I wish that people who lived in both Busan and Seoul would reply, so a comparison could be observed.

Now that I think about it, please feel free to add to the redundancy as to which place is preferred.

Also, on a non-sequitor note: are schools impressed by ivy league degrees, to the point where they might give higher salaries? Or is it strictly experience they give higher salaries on?

I live in Busan and love it. I haven't lived in Seoul, but have been there a lot. Its a BIG city, so unless you are really up for super crowded, concrete jungle, Seoul can get old. Come to Busan.

Schools are impressed by Ivy League degrees. Push for at least an extra 100,000 a month

Seoul has a lot of quiet out of the way places if you know where to look. When I have a free day, I aim my scooter at a mountain peak and see how high I can get up it. Usually I can get higher than my tolerance.

I'm just getting so frustrated because I fid the most difficult part about going about this is just finding a place that my boyfriend and I will enjoy.

People are saying that Northern Seoul is nice...I've gotten good things about Daegu also...and mixed messages about Busan.

Seoul is like London or Toronto. People there seem to think it is the only place on the planet- everything else pales.
If you are into nature, DO NOT plan to live in Seoul. It's 15 million people packed into a pile of concrete.
Seoul is all the country people who have moved to the big city and are trying to pretend that they are globally cosmopolitan. Puhlease!

I'm a firm Busan supporter and always will be!

The urabn sprawl seems to have little end. The city itself holds only 10 million, but the surrounding area makes up over 20 million, almost half of the country.

Also, it's filthy as hell. Busan is cleaner, though not so clean, and it has the sea right there.

But then again, the market in Seoul is way better.

if youre from an ivy league school, apply for a company named CDI. they pay a lot more than standard hakwons.. i was offered 4.8m per month to work there, which is really excellent money in korea. i think they are just in seoul though. i wish i had known about this place when i arrived, instead of 2 years later when i had just been offered another job in a financial company. even now i slightly regret not doing it.
i've spent time in seoul and busan, and both are great in different ways. busan has haeundae, which is a pretty fun beach town, and some interesting places. people are nicer there than in seoul too, i think. however it can get a bit boring after a while. seoul.. well.. there's a ton been written on this board about seoul, so just look around and you'll get the idea i think.

oh yeah and don't go to daegu.. compared to seoul and busan it's small and boring.
