Hezbollah.

They've been planning for this for years. They're fighting on their own ground. They don't have to worry about nuisances like rules of engagement or the Geneva Conventions. They apparently are quite badass in their own right.

But I can't be sure, I'm definitely rooting for Israel, though.

how much do you want to bet?

one million Israelis living in bomb shelters for weeks on end....????

remember, it's a democracy.

forget about a Palestinian state, forget about Hamas. Israel is waking up from the sleepwalking Clinton-enabled love love love period where wolves managed to acquire sheepskin suits for free.

Israel is rapidly realizing that giving up Gaza and withdrawing from Lebanon did not bring peace, it only brought them more problems. I really doubt this lesson will be lost on the younger generation there.

You cannot destroy an ideology, especially not by military action.

The problem -- the Arab Middle East's intolerance of Jews and the Israeli state -- is simply a tar-baby that will only get worse.

I do not know what the answer is. But I do not agree with the above characterization of Clinton. I thought he was good for the Middle East, as was Carter.

this only shows the bile in all of us and we should be ashamed that we allow hatred and bloodlust to rule our actions. Israelis should be ashamed of the present "revenge" campaign and their own leaders saying such pitiful and degrading things of others. Not what I would call an enlightened nation.

Gopher is right. Israelis action, whatever the battle they win, will not win the war. It will only bring further pain, to all parties......

where is intelligence when needed? Clinton was bad in many ways but he also allowed people to see some kind of light in the distance. That's all you can ask from a President and not like Bush or Omert, only more fighting, retaliation, ever present danger, darkness, watch your back, a bomb in every unattended bag etc.......this is not Presidential but pitiful.

What you would call 'enlightened' most people would call suicidal.

I don't see israel ever being defeated militarily- by anyone. They haven't waited thousands of years for their own land only to let it go now.

I do see an international/UN "police" force being allowed to occupy Jerusalem though, by mutual agreement.

Israel will never let the UN enter its territory, maaaybe NATO.

but really, I think Israel has woken up from its decades long naivite regarding their 'peace-loving' arab muslim neighbors.

I really don't think Israel was EVER [naive about its neighbors. More that it was hoping the U.S would be able to enforce a extended truce. [/i]
