I'm not sure if that's the correct spelling but.................
Can I get my Hep B jab in Korea?
My story is that I totally overlooked the fact that Hep B jab takes 56 days to complete if it is for long term immunisation, it comes in 3 jabs which you take on day 0, day 28 and then finally day 56. My sketch is that i'm due to depart to Korea in approximately 30 - 35 days and therefore would need to get my final jab done over there! Would this be an easy thing to do for a new lad in Korea, especially on Geoje Island, or should I try to delay my contract a few weeks?
One day I might learn not to leave everything until the last minute!! |

You can get it at just about any hospital. Cost will vary a lot (15k-55k won) depending on the hospital and whether you have your insurance book yet.
Front desk staff may not speak english but the doctor will understand "imunization shot - Hep B" -no problem. |

I wouldn't mind getting a Hep B jab....TB too for that matter.
Anybody know if these are covered by the Health Insurance card? |

Getting my third hep b shot soon, expecting it to be partially covered by my health insurance here. Other 2 shots were 23,000 won. |

I am currently between my 2nd and 3rd Hep shots.
I have national health care and the shots are covered. So far that have cost about 10,000 won each (about $10US). |

It's cheaper than the UK then! I have to pay 78 for Hep B and 78 for Japanese Enciphilitis
I was under the impression that I couldn't leave without these jabs being complete! Is that not true? |

They are NOT required for entry to Korea but it is wise to have at least started the series. At least you will have partial immunity until you get here and complete the series, |

Be sure to write down WHICH hep B vaccine you are getting (the name of the particular med). There are several, and they would want to match you with what you have already gotten. |

If the first shot you got was twinrex in North America, you have to be careful when you get your susequent shots in Korea.
The twinrex shot is combined hep a and b. But in Korea they give separate shots. The dosages are different too. Make sure you tell the doctor that your first shot was twinrex so that they will not give you the wrong dosage. |

I got them here, 2 shots, 6 months apart. cost was about 20k won each including the Dr. consult. I didn't have insurance at the time (wasn't required prior to 2006) and my school paid 1/2.

You can get a fast dosage of Twinrex in under a month. I got three shots on day 1, 7, and 21. I'm supposed to get a booster after a year. |
