HHHmmmm....i'm a fan but am a little dubious about going due to not knowing the support act and having to shell out 60 000 for a good spot. |

I'm all over it... thank you so much for posting this... I never know where to look, and I always hear about these things after the fact... like Portishead being here about a month ago... I found out a few weeks after... I'm sure that would have been something to check out too. |

I've never been to an enjoyable party in Korea.
I'm a staff writer for Taipei Nights as well as Digital Voices, so I've gotten passes to dozens of parties: Tiesto, Sasha, James Lavelle, Hybrid, TCM, Emerson, etc. Many parties hail from hole-in-the-wall sheds (not the quaint forms so pleasing back in the early 90's) with abysmal sound systems. Nearly unanimously, the security guards make up nearly half the crowd.
I'd be hard pressed to ever attend any party in Korea again. I'd rather pay the extra 1,000,000 won to fly to Formosa for the weekend where my fiance and I can catch a stand-up act in a great venue with a fantastic crowd and ambiance.
Regardless, whoever goes, have a great time. Shadow rarely disappoints. The first time I saw him was way back before Endtroducing. The man has skills.
Namaste. |

Nah, the music has very little to do with it. The shitty venues, musically illiterate crowds, hyper-abundant security, and total lack of PLUR over-ride any pleasurable set.
I've never dug Tiesto, but, as I mentioned, I'm a staff writer for Digital Voices and Taiwan Nights, so I go to many parties that I certainly wouldn't pay for.
Sasha, on the other hand, has had his ups and downs. Seeing him and Diggers during their first Northern Exposure tour circa 94 was a tremendous experience. I've heard him spin at least two dozen times in 10 countries, and he's only disappointed me with 3 showings. 2002's NY party at the WTC certainly wasn't a high-point, and neither was 2003's set at AXD. He, like Diggers, has recently bitten the electro bug, and some of his latest sets have been down-right funky. I've interviewed him twice and have always found him very amicable. I'll continue to support him until he stops making the grade.
Namaste. |
