You still call GS25 "LG25".
You call iPark Mall "Space 9".
You still think SES, FINKL, and Baby Vox are hip.
You call line 1 "the red line".

Any others?

Some here can remember the curfew and enforcement of minimum lengths of skirts. Ask that mysteriousdeltarays chap, been here since Syngman Rhee was in short pants.

I remember the public discussion of the wisdom/patriotism of pushing the 'closed' button on elevators...It was patriotic to save electricity.

In 1994 there were only 3 neighborhoods in the whole country where bars could stay open all night. The rest of them closed at some hilariously early hour of 10 or something.

I remember a public outcry over the use of neon signs.

Young men wearing very long, 'krusty-the-clown' shoes with squared off toes.

Pokemon cards. They used to be kiddie's crack back in 2000.

Maybe it's because I live in Gangnam now but I used to see every other harobogi wearing red fishing vests (they need all those pockets you know).

The opposition forces were pretty well routed in that fight. The two arguments I remember were that neon signs lacked a lot in the aesthetics department and the energy cost. I saw a certain irony on both counts. [/quote]

Why couldn't she understand aircon?? I am pretty sure thats what I called it before I came to Korea. Is it North American english that doesn't use the term?

Happily no longer necessary, as so many are now willing to wear the minimum. Very Happy
