Are you talking about a Masters of Education or a Bachelor's of Education?
A Masters can be taken at several reputable universities online. There are many specializations and they vary from program to program. As long as they are accredited, they can be used to further your career.
There are also a few bachelor's of education degrees that you can take online but be aware: Teaching certification varies from country to country, state to state and province to province.
If you take a Bachelor of Education degree online, the chances are significantly lower that you can be certified as a teacher. You should contact your local certification board about what are acceptable standards and procedures for becoming a teacher.

Most BEds (actually, I just assumed all) have several practicums. Any degree that says you can get certification completely online without a practicum is crap. And if it is true, the profession is really hitting bottom. By the way, I don't have a BEd, so I am not saying this out of snobby pride.
Masters of Education will almost never lead to certification, though they really help trying to get into a BEd program. |

That is absolutely true. Practicums in some countries must be as long as two semesters, some are 2 or 3 months. However, the 2 B.Ed.'s Ive seen online offer the B.Ed. with practicums that are based in the state the school is in...it is a residency of sorts. So it would be rather useless to do the B.Ed. in another state unless you were willing to travel to the home state, complete the practicum, stay to get certification in that state (usually a permanent certification requires 2 - 5 years of working full time as a teacher while being temporarily certified) and then you can transfer your certification to any state or province you wanted.
Sometimes there are reciprocal agreements that take the certification straight across, other places require that you take other courses or examinations to be certified and still others put you on temporary certification again and let you fulfill another 2 - 5 years of temporary certified work or even internship to prove yourself.
In Canada, usually certification is transferrable from province to province. However, the universities that I have seen offering distance B.Ed.'s are not in Canada.
The thing is...it varies so much from place to place, I would never invest in an online B.Ed. ... M.Ed. yes...B.Ed. no. However, if you want to still pursue the B.Ed. online route...check out this page which contain the two universities information.

Theory and hands on. MEd, mostly theory, though some good ones have hands on training. They are also usually a way to deepen your knowledge of a particular area (like any Masters). The BEd is practical, and goes over everything needed that can be fit into the time.
Anyways, BEd = certification (not an online one either, whether people think it should or not doesn't matter at the moment, it does NOT lead to certification in almost all cases)
MEd = more salary, possible specialized field (some other things of course) but no certification. |

Well I want to put my BA to use after Korea, so I was thinking about getting into elementary education. I was thinking I could kill two birds with one stone if I did all of my theory classes online while in Korea and then complete the rest when I go back to home. |
