Dude, you don't understand.

That's 290,000 won to fix an iPod! Over $250 USD, $300 Aussie bucks and $350 Singaporean dollars!!!!

Gimme a break! I can buy a DIVX-ready PMP for that price!

Once again, DAHAHAH!!!!!!!!!!!

I think we're missing the real joke here, which is that the tech guy quoting that kind of price (btw, 290k is $300 American--or were you quoting the price of a new iPod) means he's either a complete idiot or trying to take you for a ride.

I don't want to reopen the earlier can of worms about the iPod, but I think we can all agree that anyone who tells you that a product costs X amount, and in order to fix that thing you need to spend like 0.9X, that guy is thinking he can skim something for himself (or the store).

When I tell Koreans how much I love going to Yongsan, they are often surprised that I go there since so many foreigners get ripped off. I tell them that I don't, and that all you need to do is make clear to the vendors that you know what something is supposed to cost and then they'll actually treat you with some respect (yes, yes, yes, there are always exceptions). It's the guys that they think are idiots that they try to take advantage of. Still, though, I can't believe how much they're saying this iPod fixit is going to run you.
