Grand council meeting... somewhere in Seoul, somewhere this week? Anyone interested? I think that the purpose of this meeting would be to:
A)Commiserate
B)Plot
C)Drink?
Anyway, there's all sorts of madness afoot, and this school should simply not be allowed to sponsor visas anymore. Again, that's W Institute, formerly EWHA, owned by Brian Lee. Oh, and I've got Juicy gossip if anyone's interested, sorry ESL community, but this gossip is W-only.....
So, uh, this place sucks and I want to get every cent I'm owed out of them. I'd also love to get a Letter of Release, because I rather like Korea in general, but this job is sapping my will to live, and I really hate it when things sap my will to live. Well, it's not sapping my will to live, but it's sapping much of my positivity.
Anyways, I hope to meet as many of you as possible. I'm also interested in any info. about current/pending lawsuits, et cetera.
Should be an interesting ride!

Oh, If only I was in Korea....
Anyway, you want update? I have update. My fiance and I are still owed W5,058,200.
I rang the bosses this morning. All I heard was "I'm so sorry..." blah blah blah.
I sent them an email yesterday with this link:
http://www.hagwonchecklist.com/hagwons/index.php?method=showhtmllist&list=classifiedscategory&rollid=11&fromfromlist=classifiedscategory&fromfrommethod=showhtmllist&clearoff=1
I asked them if they saw what I wrote and they said yes. Doesn't seem to make much difference to them though. Where are the other blacklists???
I have a very short stopover in Korea on my way to Europe in 2 weeks. I'm going to have to go to the labour board just to make my presence known again, even though they can't help because I'm not staying in Korea.
Be strong against these people. Do what ever you can to get your money. Go to the labour board together and fight together. They have to be stopped. Take action NOW. |

| I feel you. I just recently started and they gave me no training at all which I guess is expected. We had a teachers meeting today and I discovered that I was doing everything wrong. I haven't been shown anything and the director just told me to ask people questions if I have any. The kids are to be tested in about two weeks and I have no idea what to test them on. The younger kids half the time don't even open their books when I teach them. Also, for the speaking class they want us to call the kids at home and test them. I don't even know if we're getting paid for this. The other foriegn teacher and I are flipping out. This place is a nightmare and I feel you when you say its sucking your will to live. |

| I'd be interested in having a chat with any W employees in/around Seoul. I've been working for them for a couple months... not all is peachy. Anyhow, drinks some time this week? PM me (or post) if that sounds like something worth doing. |

I worked for EWHA for almost 2 years. The books for listening are a rip off from school reading books. I taught the same stories every other term. Kids leveled up if they put in time, no matter how much they improved. Term Goal: Finish the book. I had to create the mid-term and finals. The place I worked at wasn't too bad.
I found that the Ewha I worked at, liked to use headquarters as a scapegoat. Weren't paid, headquarters fault. Headquarters won't pay for a two week vacation...... The only role of headquarters is to supply books... |

| I worked for them last year, and it was a crazy! I posted a very detailed post about this hoping I would save some future potential teachers the grief of having to deal with them. Guess that didn't work out so well. |

I had an interview with this place and the day of my interview, one teacher stormed out of the school and another teacher told me that he and a couple of other teachers were planning a midnight run.
Granted this was back in 2002. |

| I previously got an e-mail from the ELI academy in Incheon. The lady seemed really nice and replied to my e-mails promptly. But a second opinion would be nice because you guys have worked with these people before. Are all the branches within the W Institute system are trustworthy, or do they have a general trend of being crappy? |
