You won't see me there, you fiend! I don't know how you are typing these posts, but I for one won't be lured into any room for you to spin your deathwind over me. I know it's only a matter of time till the cops kick in the door due to the stench of chest's body...your time is short.

Fandeath is real people...don't let this heartless machine erase years of knowing better.

Your next mission....should you choose to accept it......is to flush toilet paper down the toilet without causing mass flooding and loss of life all over Korea.

God speed.

Seriously, a first grade girl in my class cried, got hoarse, blotches, all kinds of symptoms in response to my turning on the A/C in class. Allergies, allergies ... fan, fan ... she went bizerko.

After two days of this I went to her mother. I told her mother that this fan death, allergy stuff was all nonsense and just in her daughter's head and that she should explain it to her or she couldn't be in my class anymore.

Guess what. She's fine now. A/C is on. Fans are on. No allergies, no complaints, no symptoms, no problems.

The mother had been the problem. I told her and she told the daughter.

we had a heat wave in the NYC region last week, 3 straight days of above 100 degree weather, humidity driving up the heat index to 110 or more

well, an elderly New Jersey couple who didnt have a/c and closed all windows in fear of break-in, only had a fan on in the house and they both died of heat exhaustion

not to make light of the tragedy but...

could it have been a case of.... fan death??!!! Shocked Shocked

Crikey! Were they Korean?

As you say, they died of heat exhaustion. They closed the windows during a heatwave and only had a fan to move increasingly hot air around. Korean fan death is put down to suffocation or hypothermia. Very different.

Last night my wife and I slept with the fan on at full blast without blankets. And with the windows closed.

I tried submitting fan death to Mythbusters before, but they don't really care. They're more interested in myths like "Can a samurai sword really slice through a whole lot of bamboo?"

I always thought this would make a good cartoon:

Scene: Police are in an apartment (everything is strewn about) and a person is on the floor with several knives in his back. One policeman points to a running fan and closed windows and says, "Obviously, it's fan death."

Hmm are you kidding?

If not that exact cartoon has been posted on here a few times haha. Try searching through some of the other fandeath threads..

Let's make some kind of "survivor" show.

Webcams and the internet.

Watch fan death happen! Live!

I bet folks would tune in.

I must have missed it. Still funny to think about it...

The thought came to me because of one I heard in the States years ago. The way it was told was when there was an unexplained fire, it would be put down as "electrical". Once, when a fire burned a cabin down (no electricity), the fire inspector wrote, "As there is no electrical, the cause is undetermined."
