Last night I had a wierd one.
I met a guy online. He met me at the subway, and was really touchey feelie right off the bat. Wanted to hug, and hold hands. I was like... "whoa buddy slow down."
We had dinner, and he kept urging me to order alcohol.
I only agreed to go out with him because I was really interested in finding out about his culture. He's from Africa, and I'm always eager to learn more about foreign countries. Any time I asked him a question, he'd shrug it off or give me a non-detailed answer and change the subject. He wanted me to talk the whole time, but wasn't really interested in my answers. I know some girls can hold down a conversation on their own, and are just happy to find someone to blab to, but I'm not one of them.
I tried to find anything we had in common. Anything we could have a conversation about. Not a damn thing.
So then I said I needed to go to the store and buy some stuff. He insisted on coming with me. The whole time he complained loudly about how dishonest all Koreans are, and how they'll cheat me blind if I don't have someone watching them all the time.
Then he insisted on walking me home. And following me upstairs. I didn't want to embarass him, but I told him that I really was tired and needed to go to bed, so I'd see him later (yea right.) He kept saying goodbye, then standing there and not leaving. He tried to kiss me, and I just pretended I didn't notice, and turned away.
Been a while since I've gone out with a guy who was so blatantly expected to get in my bed, and didn't even have any skills to make me interested. It's a shame cuz I was actually interested in him. |

I arranged a date for the following day with a girl I worked with at Dennys.. she seemed nice. Anyway she finished 4 hours before me and so I assumed she went home. I sat and had few drinks with my other co workers for a few hours after work and then headed off.
When I arrived home she was sitting on my driveway at 4 am carving her name in the concrete with a knife!!!
She kept saying.. you love her dont you?? You love her right??
I kept saying who are you talking about... she replied.. the girl with the baby!!!

My bad date stories are pretty tame. Went out with this guy once who talked about his ex the whole time. I had had enough of it so I said to the guy that I had to get going, I left the water running--or at least I think I did, I couldn't tell with my OCD and all!!
The other time, I was online chatting it up with this guy who said he was a firefighter who had his picture in a calendar. I think he said he was Mr. April. I was like whooo hooo hit the jack pot here...firefighter, MR. April....could be good....turns out he wasn't. Thank goodness I had the back up plan, friend called saying she had boyfriend issues. That was my way out. Why do people have to lie about themselves online? |

Another foreign girl has an 'interesting' African cultural experience. When will they learn? |

Not to sound paranoid, but this guy now knows where you live?
I hope he isn't the stalker type. |

| I had an encounter with a Korean female, which afterwards I found out was her "first" (in her late 20's/early 30's nonetheless)...after which she proceeded to ask me..."how is this so hard? Is there a bone inside?"...True Story |

Yep, I would advise being a lot more firm in these cases. Sit down on the sidewalk if you have to. Say goodnight, pull out a book if you have to. It works! |

Here's my only strange "date" story in Korea. I met the girl in Sinchon and she was with a male friend. We went to Ehwa Women's University and then for lunch. They ordered some food and didn't explain what it was, just that it was good. I really didn't like it. Later I found out it was seundae.
Next we separated from the guy and headed back to her place. She brought me downstairs to her freezing basement apartment and inexplicably handed me a pack of seaweed. I was incredibly confused.
Then she made me turn my back while she changed. I was still confused by the seaweed.
Later we met up with a bunch of her friends. Aside, I asked one of the guys if she was single because I was interested in her. He said "She's my girlfriend."
Close call. Close close call. |
Now thats something youll remember for a while to come |

This is a funny thread for sure. Some of you have had some strange experiences. It's impossible to top Duff Man's (Semphoon) tale but I had 2 or 3 worth a mention. On the other hand I may have come across strangely to some girls.
One girl said she just wanted to get married as soon as possible. She was 30 though and this is Korea. Damn she was good looking too, tall, very pretty even without make-up, nice body, dressed well, had a nice personality and sense of humor, at least at first, anyway...... strangely without much boyfriend experience. Oh, then I understood. She kept talking about how much she loved God and church, and could only be with a guy who loved God as much as her. I have met 2 or 3 simliar ones who were more into prosyletising (spelling?) than anything else.
Another knockout I met once was about 30, had a child she never saw, was divorced for a few years, and was just too emotionally messed up to relate to, though I was interested in the physical thing, being, well, a normal dude. We went to an Indian restaurant and she kept commenting how strange the Muslim guy (who owned the place) seemed to her. Guess we should have had Galbi or whatever. Despite the physical attraction I had no interest in this woman.
Looks certainly aren't everything.
=================================
A Canadian female co-worker and I went out once with a male adult Korean student. We had some fun, drinking and whatever. After a few hours he asked her, "Will you go to bed with me?" She was creeped out. He left, a bit embarrassed. I just laughed and told her, hey, this is sometimes a strange place.

Not date experiences, of course, but I have been hit on a few times by gay Korean men. I think one happened last night, though I was too drunk to recall the details. Once a guy followed me for a while and asked if I like gay sex. I had to escape from that guy. Sometimes the friendliness and little shoulder tappings are misinterpreted. |

Personally I don't think Korean girls are as conversative as most people on here make out..........however every now and then one meets someone who lives up to the sterotype.
Mine was a girl who arrived for our date with both her mother and her older sister in tow. TBH I think I deserve a medal for having the good manners to humour her for an hour before inventing a sick friend at the hospital and going down the pub. |

Judging from the responses to this one single thread (which isn't scientific or fair, but let's do it anyway) it appears that, while the guys have genuinely weird dating experiences with human-like visitors from the diseased Planet Freakychick, the weirdest dates the girls can come up with are guys taking them to McDonalds, or just your average, run-of-the-mill lecherous jerk. That's a "weird date"? No, that's only a bad date or an annoying date. Yet these freaky-assed chicks the guys have met, damn!! Hollywood psycho-thriller plot material! And not just on this thread. By no means just on this thread.
Some possible reasons for this discrepancy: (I don't subscribe to any one theory, I'm just tossing them out there)
1. Women on Dave's are more careful and cautious about who they go out with. They might end up with socially inept bores, touchy-feely perverts, arrogant Charisma Men, or tubby smelly unshaven types, but they weed out all the bona fide loonies early in the interview process.
2. Women on Dave's just don't "get" weird -- they don't know it when they see it. Or if they do, they're so overjoyed that the guy's not another sex-crazed animal, they actually find his bizarro-worldview, voices-my-the-head, drooling-conspiracy-theorist ways rather charming by comparison.
3. The guys out there who are the real nutbars, the complete loop-de-loopers, they don't date women.
4. Women on Dave's can't get dates, weird or normal, and the stories they've related thus far -- they're just making this crap up.
5. Numbers 2 & 4 couldn't be further from the truth, the girls have been on plenty of weirdo, sicko, head-case dates. They're simply withholding all the info in order to skew the results of this ... well, it's not a poll, is it? This investigation. Yeah, they're sandbagging the evidence of this investigation so as to make the guys look like pathetic loopy-chick-daters.
Any other possible explanations? No? Good, now vote. |

Here's one that sort of made my head explode.
I was friends with this soft-spoken Finnish engineer. He was cool, but not a big hit with the ladies (we discovered that I had kissed more girls than he had.) One night, I found out why.
He invited me over to his place, saying he would make me dinner. Lovely! I walked in to find him bustling about at the stove, a candle glowing at the table. He offered me a glass of wine. We were off to a good start.
I had a look at the bottle of wine. It was red. The label said "2006." It also said "Jinro." Sure enough, it had cost $2, and it tasted like sugary fake cherry juice mixed with gasoline.
He took the pasta out of the pot, and I saw that it was in fact ramyun. Creative choice. He said "I know you're going to love the sauce." It was very good in fact, but it tasted pretty familiar. "Hey," I asked. "Is this the sauce I made, and gave you a few weeks ago to put in your freezer?" He blushed (you've got to see a Finn blush-- it's great.)
Full points for economy and nerve, zero points for effort.
After dinner, he got caught up on the phone and busy working out some kind of computer problem with a friend. I watched TV on the couch. Then we played with some electric remote control cars and raced them around his living room. That was the best part-- no complaints about the cars.
Needless to say, the relationship failed to thrive. |
