How hard was it for you to pass the test, since the testor spoke korean? |
Driving is an international language. Listen for the beep to go.
I have a comet 250cc, I passed the test last year. It's a difficult test, some of the guys I took it with failed it 10 times.

sorry to hijack the thread.. i'm going to be taking the test next week in nowon. just wondering if you can give any tips or things to look out for? what kinds of things do they test you on? any tricky parts? is it a closed course? or do you go out onto the streets? do they supply you with a bike or can you use your own? kind of nervous. any help would be appreciated! |
Sorry for the late reply, I have been busy of late. The two first turns are the killers. Keep your speed up and turn at the right point. Lean into the turn. The rest of the course is a piece of cake.
Good Luck,

There are still several months of good driving left before winter. This is a great price for this bike. Don't settle for a korean bike with a little scooter engine. Get 500ccs of kawasaki power. |

Ahh, I see.
Well, to those who are indeed afraid of buying a 14 year old bike, let me raise a few relevant points.
1. Bikes have less materiel and moving parts, so they tend not to deterorate and become rusted money pits like old cars do.
2. Since all mechanical and electrical components are easily seen and reachable on a bike, repairs and maintenance are usually quick and cheap. (if you take the time to learn, alot of it can be done yourself)
3. This particular bike is japanese made and is built to last. With regular servicing and oil changes expect to get well over 300,000Kms out of this bike.
4. This bike has amazingly low Kms for it's age. Only 50,000 miles (80,500 Kms)!!!! It obviously was not an over-driven, abused courier bike that was driven to hell and back.
5. Regardless of the age of a bike, you have to look at the present condition of the bike. And the condition of this bike is good. It may have a few scratches, but that's just cosmetic. The important part, the engine, runs strong and sounds like it should. Just because it's a '92 doesn't mean it's rotten. All over north america people are still riding 60's hondas.
I'm not trying to unload a piece of junk. I drove this bike to work almost every day last year. It's ready to ride away right now. I'd keep it myself if I knew I was returning to korea, but I doubt I'll return. |

In the picture it looks like the fork seals might be leaking?

I was concerned with that a while back. My mechanic told me the seals were solid, and they are. What you see in the picture is a buildup of dust and dirt. These pics were taken after driving for 4 days, so the bike is a bit dirty. Dust builds up on the forks, then gets pushed up about half way by the seals whenever you git a bump or swell, hence the buildup of dirt about halfway up the forks. If you see the bike in person, touch the forks near the seals. You'll notice they're not oily at all.
Thanks for pointing that out Bigfoot. I'm glad I could explain that to anyone concerned with leaky forks. |

Seals are cheap indeed. But a fork spring is a complicated mechanism, taking several hours to desassemble, drain the hydraulic fluid, insert new hydraulics, and reassemble. Rather than jump to the conclusion that it needed new shocks I consulted my mechanic, whom I consulted for parts, etc, and who was also a friend. As a second opinion, he assured me that they would not need replacing.
Now Bigfoot, are you interested in the bike, or are you using our debate in another thread to justify being a pain in the ass in this one? |
