Actually, I think you have a typ... you mean thge P4D 940 @ 3.2 gHz?
Price is about right. I paid about that (300k for CPU and MB) for mine last month and my whole system including HDD and DVD burner, etc. came in under 600k.
Didn't the NEW Intel CPUs just get released? That would have dropped the prices of the 930s and 940s to clearance levels. |

Well there is $200 in rebates. But I mean I thought a dual core chip went for $1200 alone.
You do seem some great rebates... like "HP scanner $200... or $50 with mail in rebate" and you're like "how can they give it away for that price." Here's the trick. People will buy based on the rebate price. But of course you have to pay full price right up front. And then you have to fill out this crazy complicated little form, make sure you dot all the i, and mail in the rebate. Only 4% of purchasers ever actually claim the rebate, even if they bought the product fully intending to claim the rebate. |

Nope. Checked it again. it's 840 unless they have a typo on their site. |

Yup... I checked their site... It is the OLDer Smithfield chip.... That is NO great deal.
Like I said... I build my new system for ~600k won last month with a P4D-930 (Presler core).
And now that the new CORE 2 models have been released, you can expect the "Dual Core" chips to drop to clearance model prices.

Nope. Dual cores are getting cheaper by the day. However the CORE 2 Extreme is on sale this week for only USD$1179 |

That's right. I got a 3.0 930 dual core for 200,000. They're about 180,000 now. Good chip but not, repeat not, the new Core Duo. |
