Anybody know how to ship stuff home? I'll be waaaay over my limit. I'm living in Ulsan and will be leaving in the next few weeks. I'd be grateful for any ideas! |

The easiest way I know of is to use the post office. They have the boxes right there. They will give you a list of the cost (it's a combo of size of box and weight). They help you tape up the boxes as you bring them in and then they're sent directly to your home.
Unless you are sending a rock collection, I found the price to be reasonable and efficient. |

Spot on! Its a heckuva lot cheaper to send stuff home from Korea than it is to send it to Korea! I sent 4 of the large boxes absolutely stuffed with gear and it was cheap, cheap, cheap! |

If you have a lot of stuff and don't want to cart boxes and boxes of it to the PO, use an overseas shipper. It's expensive, but worth it not to have the hassle. In Jan, I shipped 1.5 cubic meters (that's about 15 bushel-sized boxes) of stuff home to Michigan for about 700$ . I used Allied Pickfords, they gave me the best quote. Look up their website and call. They give you an estimate over the phone, send someone out to pack up your stuff if you want(for a fee, of course) and ship it to your home address in the States, or wherever. The guy I talked to had OK English, I had to ask him to repeat a few times but everything worked out. I'll use them again in the future. |

Did you pay for door-to-door or door-to-port? I did d-t-p, and as I had moved on to another country by the time it got there, my dad and brother had the pleasure of going to the NYC docks and claiming the intact crate... |

Is there a hyperlink of this great post office? I'd like to know the range in box sizes, allowed weight and prices. |

OiGirl, they did it door-to-door. I learned about that the hard way the last time I shipped stuff home. I was TOLD it would be door-to-door. But, one day, I got a call, "Your shipment has arrived, please come get it." I asked for directions to get to the place. It was in California! I'm in Michigan! I had to pay and extra 250$ for shipping to Detroit and had to go pick it up from some cargo place at the airport.
I made double sure this time! |

ALL Korean post offices do this. Just drop by the one in your neighborhood. The one I used was a little itty bitty one: 3 ladies and a guy behind the counter. There will be a display of the boxes on the wall, most likely. |
