There's nothing like it! Very Happy

When I first tried it my mouth danced at the odd juxtaposition of spice and ice in a meal.

Over three years later, on a scorcher like today, it's just as satisfying!

Gotta have the ice! (usually looks spicy red too)

Strange. In 4 years year I had never been scared by any Korean food. Not live octopus, dog, spicy *** crap, nothing. But for some reaon I would never try naengmyeon until about 3 months ago. Loved it. The thought of cold noodled just disgusted me for some reason.

Mod Edit: Please watch the language!

The Earth is on its last legs, we're all headed straight for Hell, there's no point in having children in this world, "global warming" has now been re-termed "global stir-frying" in accordance with truth-in-advertising laws, and what do we want? Naengmyon. That's what.

That's bibim-naegnmyon your talking about, right? Must be. Normal (mul-)naengmyon isn't spicy. Unless you consider vinegar & that sorry mustard to be spicy. Nah, you couldn't.

I had naengmyon for lunch today (who didn't?) and the troubles of this world completely disappeared. The waitress/owner of the place we go never, ever smiles. I'll make jokes, everyone else is laughing but her. She wears too much makeup and has one of those severe, pulled-back hairdos that make women look like real dragon-lady harridans. And while I was thinking about how unpleasant she must be to live with, I'd completely forgotten about all the troubles of this world.

You're all crazy. Or maybe I am. Perhaps I'll be craving it if you give me another three years. As it is, I still retch at the memory and have successfully avoided it since last summer.

막국수 for me. 냉면 is too rubbery. But yes...a cold, hot dish is great.

I love naengmyeon, particularly bibim, but I always gag because of the length of the noodles, and have to have them cut up like an infant. (Oops, I mean I have to have them cut up as though I'm an infant. Hope that wasn't misunderstood.) Which proves that I'd never make a good homosexual.

Bummer.

Not only on a hot, sultry day but also after a hard practice in Kumdo, naengmyon is the best! I think it has a lot to do with the vinegar they add more than it simply being cold.

As for bibimnaengmyon, that's seems especially spicy and don't eat it too often when I can eat other spicy korean food with no problem.

Just gotta be sure to cut it up with scissors first or it'll seem that naengmyon is one endless noodle!

I like the occasional bowl of naengmyun, but that pic looks like this morning's street pizza.

It's OK, but I prefer hot food, no matter what the weather.
