|
|
I heard on CNN the numbers quoted in one case of civilians killed in one village as being 62 (maybe), later I heard the number had changed to 28 and missing 13 (maybe).
I thought that maybe the missing numbers were of militia fighters who couldn't be accepted as dead.
What numbers tell us may not be the truth.
What do you think? |

The numbers definitelydon't tell the truth.
I have stated several times here on Dave's how frustrated I was with the casualty reports. CNN and most news outlets report Israeli casualties with a number which inflates, a number which included military casualties (50% of the total). This is just plain propaganda.
Further, there is constant tallying of how many rockets land in Israel. A precise tally. No figures given for Israeli mortal and missle/ rocket launches nor a figure which gives the % greatness of explosive power in comparison to a Hizbollah rocket. An Israeli shell leaves a crater the size of a swimming pool, the Hizbollah rockets - that of maybe a meter around . How many thousands of launches has Israel already sent? Yet this number never appears????
The numbers are skewed, I don't go by them and I use my common sense...
It is very much like the small reports you get in the paper which indicate one marine was wounded and 25 insurgents killed........pure propaganda. Iraq, Afghanistan and Israel. Military commanders control the numbers and present what they want. [and take us for idiots]

What a piece of pap and pure American cheerleading that article is.......again Joo, you show all the sophistication of your normal arguements by posting Newsweek as a creditable source. What's next, Reader's Digest or the American Rifle Association newsletter?
Truth was killed long before the war in Iraq by the American govt and their campaign of deceit, planted articles, paying of journalists and lobbyists/pr men and their own aggressive campaign of beating the story of Iraq and the bomb threat, to death. We all know how fabricated and dillusional it was. I said so at the time. It is also the same old tired line being tried regarding Iran. Fortunately the Iranians have more legs to stand on, given their own diplomatic core and the strength of their immigrant community.
Please start posting something decent......and I reiterate, the first casualty of war is DECENCY.

I wonder if you've ever heard of a debating method that involves posting data that disproves the data that someone else has already posted. As an example, if Joo posts an article from Newsweek, and you think Newsweek is an unreliable source, you find another source that gives an alternative view, and tell us why your source is more credible.
Admittedly, it's not as much fun as your apparently preferred method dismissing the other guy's source as "cheerleading", and then throwing in a bunch of unflattering comparions to low-brow publications. However, you just might find that taking my suggested approach gives your credibility a much-needed boost. |

They do exactly the same for Lebanese casualties you utter cretin. When the BBC mentions that some 1,000 Lebanese have been killed, they do not mention, and nor can they even estimate, how many of such 'civilians' are actually Hezbollah fighters.
Once again, you show your double standards. |

An Eye for an Eye: The Semantics of War
by Reuven Schossen
http://www.geocities.com/schossen/semantics.htm
"Kidnapped Soldiers" blared the Israeli headlines a few weeks ago, after a soldier was captured in Gaza and two in Southern Lebanon. I was surprised. Since when is a soldier "kidnapped?" What, were they watering their mothers' gardens at the time? No, they were participating in military events. Soldiers are never kidnapped; they are captured after which time they should be treated according to the international Geneva Convention. That one simple semantic deceit by the Israeli media kidnapped the nation's mind.
"I never thought of that in such a way, but you are right," an Israeli friend living in Tel Aviv told me after hearing my reasoning. The semantic bombardment of Israeli citizens by their own government-controlled media continued, despite my remarks, and a few days later, I emailed a couple of pictures to my friends there.
The first showed young Israeli girls writing hateful messages on artillery shells destined for Lebanon.
Before sending this photo, I carefully analyzed it. The writing was done with a confident Hebrew hand and included typical spelling errors of Israeli children. As a former officer of the Israeli army, I can say with certainty that the military equipment in the picture belongs to the Israeli army. Next to this picture, I sent a second one of a dead Lebanese child.
Not one of my friends questioned the authenticity of the pictures, but one of them - a major in the army - answered unapologetically: "They are criminals."
Hence, soldiers are kidnapped and dead children are criminals; this is the war's semantic world. I could cite many such examples, but the most illuminating one dates back to 1982. At that time, the Israeli government had baptized the Lebanon War as the War for the Peace of the Galilee. The Hebrew possessive could be literally translated as War-Peace-the Galilee: a perfect Orwellian oxymoron. The use of these types of semantic traps has only increased over time and they have become harder to spot by the confused Israeli public.
"Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot" says the Bible in Exodus 21:24. The Code of Hammurabi, dating back to 1728 BC, makes a similar claim. It may seem a bit barbaric nowadays, but back then it established for the first time the idea of proportional punishment and - in a sense - a method of indemnification for crimes committed.
But these days, if your neighbor breaks the window of your house - intentionally or not - you expect to get a new window and maybe some degree of compensation if the damage was intentional.
No modern society would accept the retaliatory breaking of the neighbor's window - or demolishing his house, as the Israelis are doing in Lebanon - as a just response.
For a long time now, Israelis have been running amok in this manner. Having rejected their last Teacher, they are now forgetting even their first, and primitive, law and religious texts, receding dangerously back to lawless times. 3500 years ago, the Israelis had a more comprehensive and just legal system than they do today.
That is their choice and they will be judged for their deeds. However, it is the personal responsibility of each of us to shout as loud as possible that the Emperor has no Clothes.
If we won't defend the innocent Lebanese children of today, we will ignore the French children of tomorrow. And, then, when American children are forced to carry their own cross, then, it will be too late to save them.

Hey, if it was anyone other than Joo, you might have a point. I've stated several times on Dave's that I won't debate him with any facts. Why? Because he just harps and prints the same tired articles. Also for his hate, let's not forget that he wished I was dead -- matter of factly. Not something I will forget other than to cover his ass and make sure I call him out for what he is, a hate monger and a guy that has got his knowledge from toilet readers and various doctor's offices .............. (see I will continue to do it)
I do post and debate on this forum. I do bring material to support my contentions. But with Joo, he never reads it and just harps on the same stuff. I am not going to bother. Also, not looking for any credibility and it seems that on this board I will have to be the one constantly asking for others to broaden their viewpoints and see the world as it is and not in various characatures.............

Well, then why debate him at all, if you think his points aren't worth the effort of a factual rebuttal?

Oh for Christ's sake, get over yourself. This board was having in-depth and balanced debates long before you took time off from your continental tour to spread the gospel of critical thinking. |
