Ditto both of the above. But I am not too trusting of Yahoo or Gmail, either.
Now that AOL is going free, I am sure they will continue to completely colonize your computer as soon as you sign up for their services. My friend's computer has been pretty well gone over, but there are AOL ghosts everywhere in the machine. |

Perfect description. Man I had a friend ask me to install AIM so he could transfer some files online. I ended up having to reformat my hard drive. Little AOL soldiers marching around planting flags everywhere. Ah!! |

I had the same problem 10 years ago when I had the bright idea of installing their "100 days free!" CD. Those damned things were everywhere and I thought 'why the hell not? I'll take the 3 months of free dial up service and then uninstall it'. Same thing happened, never got rid of everything until reformat of the HD.
I've been warning people about AOL ever since. In fact I knew some people who were paying an ISP for dial up connection AND paying AOL- I couldn't convince them that they didn't need aOL to be able to surf the internet, they already had a free browser. It sounds totally ridiculous now (it was fairly ridiculous then).
Gang ah gee, where have you been lately?
You're pretty scarce around here these days as far as I can tell. |
