Have just decided that i will go for desktop over laptop, however i am a complete newbe when it comes to computer specs and what i need. How easy is it to get a computer made for you in at yongsan? or is there a bettter way of doing it (better=cheaper)

what type of specs do i need.

I am not really a gamer, but i do like the odd game of Diablo 2 and maybe a bit of WoW. so i will not need a huge graphics card

The computer will mainly be used for internet, downloading, DVDs etc.

However when i do return home and go back to uni (have to finish my masters one day), i will have to run some rather CPU intensive statistical software (SAS,SPSS) and some population modelling software.

I do want a DVD writer, and probably a tv out card? English windows

So where in yongsan do i go, ipark?, the mouse maze? the other hollow building? what kind of prices am i looking at, I was thinking around 500,000won, plus screen

I was thinking of going in saturday afternoon (if anyone knows what they are doing, willing to give me a hand and is in the area i'll shout lunch and drinks)

Cheers

For what you want to do, just about anything that you see assembled at yongsan will do the trick.

The only kick is the TV out. I don't think there are any cards that have RF out and if you have an older or cheaper TV it will NOT have DV, VGA or S-video inputs.

When you go looking at the boards that are in front of the stalls, you will see the things listed like:

CPU - p4 - 3.0gHz
1gig RAM
DVD-R, CD-RW,
120gig HDD
and they will highlight the price as 40 (40 man won = w400,000).

Prices will run from a low of 29 to as high at 120 man won.

Look for something in the range of 50 man won with the biggest stuff you can get.

I would like to offer to assist you but I don't know if I can get to Seoul this weekend. PM me with your phone number and I will call you.
