FROM THE MOMENT the first airplane crashed into the World Trade Center on the morning of September 11, 2001, the world has asked one simple and compelling question: How could it happen?
Three and a half years later, not everyone is convinced we know the truth. Go to Google.com, type in the search phrase "World Trade Center conspiracy" and you'll get links to an estimated 628,000 Web sites. More than 3000 books on 9/11 have been published; many of them reject the official consensus that hijackers associated with Osama bin Laden and Al Qaeda flew passenger planes into U.S. landmarks. |

We've been over that article a number of times in a number threads here. A lot of us know how this one will play out too.
But carry on if you must. |

I tried to do a search on it, but the search function sucks.
I just saw the article today and thought I might as well post it. |

Well, fiveeagles, why don't you lower your ball sack and let us know your thoughts... I've seen a couple threads about this already. Got anything new to add? |

Not really worth it if BS and others have been hashing it out.
If you want to know where I stand. I would have to agree with the stance that popular mechanics takes. |

Yeah, Popular Mechanics.
Go to Google and type in "JFK assassination conspiracy" and you get links to an estimated 558,000 web sites...and that event took place almost 43 years ago!
Look, for every big event in human history there are conspiracy theories, especially disasters where people die or other negative things happen. It's human nature. Things can never be as they seem even though they most usually are.
People love a good mystery...even if its already been solved. |

On the Skeptics Guide to the Universe, they intereviewed Gerald Posner, a lawyer turned author who wrote a book basically upholding the lone gunman theory (HENCE, HE'S A CIA STOOGE). He notes that JFK conspiracy proponents are a generational thing. Like there used to be a lot of Lincoln conspiracy theorists too. But they all died off. There are very few young people taking up the JFK conspiracy theory. 9/11 on the other hand... it's this generation's JFK conspiracy. And frankly these 9/11 people make even the Apollo Hoax people look like solid candidates for a Macarthur grant. |

Good catch Eagle ...
Since its publication last year, this "article" has won garnered some real notoriety.
Can anyone here remind us, Popular Mechanics is currently owned by who?
This hardly insignificant business aside, the chief editor for that story was none other than current US HOMELAND "SECURITY" Chief. Michael Chertoff's cousin: BENJAMIN
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=popular+mechanics+chertoff+cousin
Amazingly, when pressed on this matter, good ol' cousin Ben seemed to have no idea.
For the record, a reporter on the story called his sweet mother at home. She was more than happy to confirm the special close "kinship" the two Chertoff's share
Hmmmm ... Benjamin Chertoff.
What d'yall think the chances are the next time a reporter presses this esteemed "GATEKEEPER", they'll query as to whether, just as does dear cousin Mike, he too holds dual Israeli / US citizenship?

But do you dispute any of the facts?
Great so a guy who is cousin to the Homeland Security Sec manages to convince an editor he has some contacts that will let him write a more effective story.
"Einstein's brother is Satan. So Relativity is crap!" Is that your argument? |

Popular Mechanics, end of the intro:
Quote: |
Only by confronting such poisonous claims with irrefutable facts can we understand what really happened on a day that is forever seared into world history |
So by analysing and disproving X number of theories that they selected themselves, they think it lets us "understand what really happened" on that day, when it actually does nothing of the sort. All it does is disprove those specific theories.
The logical leap from conspiracy thories x, y, and z are wrong, therefore what the govt says is true is the point where it departs from the scientific standards you assume a magazine with "mechanics" in the title would adhere to. Thats the point where it becomes just another piece af bought and paid for propaganda. |

Eagle: unless IGTG has gone and *beep* ed up the search function by changing the title of the thread yet again, you can find all this stuff by searching for the thread with "Charlie Sheen" in the title in the Current Events forum, with IGTG as the author.
And when you do, you'll see that IGTG is hoping that his hypocrisy in that thread will be forgotten.
To summarize, we laughed when he started using Charlie Sheen as a source and started ridiculing him (as usual) and making Charlie Sheen jokes.
He got all indignant and told us we should be debating the issues not attacking the man (you know, ad hominem attacks etc.).
Then, on the same page(!), he started doing the same thing he was condemning us for doing (i.e. ad hominem attacking the source- in this case the writer of the PM article- rather than the article itself)!
And the punchline is- when he got called on it he didn't even understand! He didn't get it!
It was brilliant, it's like he was the Lonney tunes coyote, setting up Acme traps only to walk right into them himself seconds later!
It makes you want to say: beep beep!
I'll see if I can find the thread... |

It's too bad this thread didn't have a POLL feature.
We've done similar threads in the past, and results have shown the majority suspect the "official" conspiracy theory. Even after the "Official" 9/11 WHITEWASH ( think the Warren Report "re-loaded" ), there have lingered too many unanswered questions.
Then again:
"You can fool some of the people some of the time ..." |

I'll ask again. Which of the PM facts do you dispute? Great, the author has an important cousin. What does that actually have to do with the arguments he puts forward? |
