Wow, he sometimes writes things that are bad about Canada, but they are usually always true. Someone who can't take criticism will be a loser their entire life (same goes for countries) and will never grow.

Probably a similar list done by Americans would produce even worse music

You know, there is a rumor (I don't know how true it is) that Canadians can be perfectly good Canadians without comparing themselves to Americans on absolutely every stinking criteria that comes along.

Wow.

Was sure Life is a Highway would be on there.

Victim of overkill me thinks.

No Hip? Very strange.

I always found that some Neil Diamond made it into the 8-track or CD on a long trip. Also ABBA, and maybe some Trooper, or John Denver.
Ah, in two weeks I'll be enjoying the scenic splendor of Canada's West Coast. Can't freaking wait.

Well, I'd have to qualify that, Ya-ta:
Some Canadians can be perfectly good Canadians without comparing themselves to Americans on absolutely every stinking criteria that comes along, but let's face it- some of us are hopeless and will forever be finding our national pride in beer commercials, coffee&donut shops, and America-bashing.

We can always hope.

"The seven songs were selected by music journalists. "

The songs were selected by some music journalists and then were ranked by Canadians. What kind of stupid survey is that?

Summer of '69 definitely belongs on the list. A few others are questionable. Free Falling? Maybe if you enjoy sleep driving.

Gotta agree on the Diamond and ABBA. Cracklin' Rosie.

BUT, with ACDC you can drive FOREVER!!!

9) The Chicken Dance - Walter Ostenik and the Time;

I was just up in North Dakota doing that at a wedding this past weekend. Every *&!!!%$ wedding we go to there. Including ours.
I don't want to talk about it.

My friend got married and had written into the DJ's contract that he will not even bring the Chicken Dance LP onto the premises. If the LP even made it onto the premises the contract would be null and void and the DJ would go without his fee. The DJ thought this was a little odd. He was like "dude, I just won't play it."

My friend was like "No... because someone will get drunk and request it and slip you $50 and you will play it."

Amen!

My cellphone has a pre-installed, 20-melody ringtone menu, and "Chicken Dance" is Melody #16 (between "Red River Valley" and "Dixie"). I think it's the same thing you're talking about -- god, that's reaaaally old. "Vogerltanz" in German. It goes: "da-da da-da da-da da, da-da da-da da-da da, da-da da-da dee-dee dee", right? So if it's really popular at North American weddings, why don't you want to talk about it? Why did the guy tell the DJ not to play it if he expected everyone would want to hear it?

I just Googled up a video of people at a wedding doing that funky Chicken Dance. Old & young alike. From the look of them, I say those people should be encouraged to get all the exercise they can. Make 10 rounds of Chicken Dancing mandatory at all weddings and before breakfast each day, I say.

SHRIEKBACK!!! Shocked I haven't thought of them in soooo long. I think I have them on _cassette_!!

Someone did a survey of Canadians' favorite driving songs. The list is so shameful I almost want to burn my Canadian passport. Maybe I can coach a Korean team to a semi final victory and get an offer of citizenship...

The abortion of a list:

1) Summer of '69 - Bryan Adams

2). Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen;

3). Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf;

4). It's Only Rock 'n Roll (But I Like It) - The Rolling Stones;

5). Drive My Car - The Beatles;

6). Free Fallin' - Tom Petty;

7). Radar Love - Golden Earring.

Geez weirder they stopped at 7... didn't go all the way to 10. Maybe they were too embarressed.

8 ) Rubber Ducky - Sesame Street on Ice;

9) The Chicken Dance - Walter Ostenik and the Time;

10) Freebird - Anne Murray and Corey Heart.

This list is friggin bogus! I know this for two good reasons. One; there's no Sharon, Lois and Bram... they are the only children's entertainers that count. Period.

Two; Anne Murray... now I have done my bit of acid and shrooms and what not, and I could never, ever... ever, even think of one of her songs.

This is clearly an attempt to besmirch the good names of her Majesty's loyal subjects in an attempt to help the 'terrorists'.

God save the Queen!

Nice call Jinju

High School Flashback: Driving in dad's Black Merkur, tinted windows, lots of power, sweet ride.

The Doors LA woman blasting. Riders on the Storm if it's raining. After that, pop in a little Public Enemy, maybe a little Black Box. Or, some G'N'R, use your illusions 1 and 2. And some NWA, had to have the NWA back in the day.

I gotta download some Doors!

If that list gets out, Canadians are going to have to start sewing little American flags on their backpacks.
