i think my school is evil. i'm at a public high school. they've told me that everyone is taking Aug 14 off (a break before the semester starts), and it's going to be taken away from vacation days. i find this to be evil. it's a freaking forced vacation!

This is considered a normal practice in Belgium. It is called "making the Bridge".

That is considered "Belgium Sucks" internationally.

I think the OP should tell them he's going to work goddamnit and get the keys to the school. Then, obviously, not work.

That's assuming you only get 14 days. If you actually get proper vacations (4 or 5 months), quit whining =)

My school did that all last year, but they didn't take vacation days, they took sick days of which I had 14. Maybe try that?

But then you get a four day weekend. Isn't that a good thing? I have to work on Monday and I would have loved to have the time to ride to another city...
