my lenses are $1000 each so I'm keeping them. Yes, a lens designed for SLR film cameras works perfectly on a Digital SLR. One of my $1000 lenses is designed for film cameras.

yes, I'm sure.

I bought a 70-400mm Zoom AF (not DX) lense with VR for my film camera 2 years ago. Since then, I sold the film camera and bought the d70. it works perfect.

Not sure about that. Some lenses are compatible with some DSLR but only when recommended. One can't say that any old SLR lens can just work on any new DSLR.

Well, it depends on how old the lens is, of course something from the ARK will not work, but I have a Tamiron lens thats like 10 years old that works fine on my Nikon D70. And it does depend on the mount, the D70 takes an F mount that is very common with Nikon. Almost any new Nikon camera will take an F mount.
