When I was relating some of my experiences teaching here.... to a friend, he said I absolutely had to see Good Morning Vietnam. (with Robin Williams teaching English ).

I was wondering if anyone could suggest where I could look for a DVD copy in this corner of the world.

Okay movie, but I wouldn't call it a must see. Robin Williams did his best work in stand up and on TV.

Either that or you might be able to order online. My Korean co-worker found a copy of Willy Wonka and The Chocolate Factory (1971) on DVD online and she said it was only 9,000. It wasn't a cheap copy either because I took a look at the cover and the dvd.

By the way there is a rumor going around Robin Williams is back in rehab for his drinking problem.

Wrong link, dude. Are you from Oregon? I lived in Eugene and Portland for many many years. Great state

Thanks huffdaddy, Milwaukiedave and stumptown

I used the link huffdaddy provided. Then I downloaded several programs and....... miracle of all miracles.....everything worked. So, I was able to download Good Morning Vietnam. You'd have to know how computer illiterate I am to realize what a "big deal" that is.

I did enjoy Good Morning Vietnam but I agree with HD that Robin is at his best when he's doing stand-up (I especially liked his golf routine but there's so many to choose from) or something impromptu. His appearance on Inside the Actor's Studio was memorable.....to say the least. But he's still a pretty fair actor--thought he was excellent in Good Will Hunting.

I enjoyed the teaching scenes in GMVN that my friend was referring to. I could relate because a former teacher had taught two of my students that "What's happening" is another way to say "hello". Doesn't sound quite right coming from middle-aged women.

That's Milwaukie, not Milwaukee. Gotta be PDX-area. Stumptown is a pretty revealing name in itself.
