I dunno, I find it really hard to believe your claim that more than 30% of Thai prostitutes are under 18. Have you been there recently and seen this? Sounds like your figures were from the 1980s or early 90s when it was not uncommon to see men and women peddling 5 year-olds to pedophiles (both foreign and domestic) in broad daylight. Or maybe those figures are from Cambodia?

The governent in Thailand has really cracked down on underage prostitution since the mid- 90s (by Royal decree - and in Thailand you do what the King says). I've seen a few streetwalkers in Bangkok who may have been 16 or 17 but certainly none younger than that, and I'm not sure what the legal age is there. But you can see this in NYC as well. If a girl were dancing in a go-go club at 11 years old I think the vast majority of foreign men who go there would have made a call to the cops, and I've simply never heard any expat tell a story like that. I guess if you really looked you could find it (like anywhere) but it's not visible and is certainly highly illegal. (By the way,I tried to read it but the 11 year old girls' account is a dead link. Do you have any more recent figures for Thailand by a reputable organization?)

Just so I know where you stand, are you against all forms of prostitution, including between consenting, debt-bondage free adults, or just, like most of us, to the child, unregulated debt/bondage (illegal) variants? For example, if during university, when I was totally broke, would you have had a problem with me (a man) hustling my ass or being a stripper? Or how about if I chose to do it now for some extra cash, assuming I could actually get a customer? (no nasty comments please).

I've spent a fair bit of time in Thailand and Vietnam so I will say what I noticed.

Yes, there ARE the old, ugly, fat, mentally challenged (or the current PC word for it), abusive, or psycotic men who married bar girls or the like. There are also those who pay for the sex then dump the girl looking for another "conquest".

BUT, I did meet some of the most normal, attractive, well-adjusted guys who were very happy in their relationships. (One of these guys has posted in this thread!) If fact, the majority of the long term EFL teachers (or other working professionals) that I met in the region were in real relationships with ordinary women.

To make a generalization that all these guys are misfits is just silly.

I have had many money-sucking girlfriends in the West to know that anyone who actually needs my money (as a matter of survival vis a vis a matter of vanity and keeping up with the Jones's), and anyone who is willing to live with me without pre-conditions that I constantly endorse her friendships and take an interest in them, never act jealous when she goes to nightclubs with her friends, and always act like some kind of docile new-age PC man, will get my heart and mind anytime.

Is it not then that Western females will start getting jealous and envious that their men find women who don't demand so much to be much more attractive in marriage?
Aslo there is a demographic problem that women concern themselves about. Their man supply dwindles every passing year.
Personally I find this quite a good sign that finally during 40 years of the decline of man, man is re-asserting himself.

Anyway, after all is said and done, marriage to an Asian woman has its demands, but has been a far more fulfilling marriage proposition, that is, for me.

Each to their own.
But you 'Western-chicks all the way' guys are missing out on something very special.
