Hello all,

I write this sitting naked with sweat running all over my body. It runs down my belly. It collects in my belly button. Every two minutes I empty the small pool of sweat. I sleep on the floor at night next to my fan because my bed is too hot to sleep on.

I should have asked my boss for air con a while back but didnt want to rock the boat. But tomorrow I will ask for a small AC unit.

The questions I want to ask is - do you have air con? Is it unreasonable to be without during summer? Any idea of how much an air con unit would cost?

can't live without it. Since the a/c doesn't blast directly into my bedroom I've been sleeping in the living room for the past couple of weeks.

Just go out and buy an a/c and when you move it moves with you.

Ya, you might want to ask in the fall, when they would proabably be cheaper Anyways, no aircon, I would go crazy. Really. I asked for only one thing when I signed my contract and it was aircon.

Every summer is the same thing. I try to rationalize spashing out on an airconditioner, convince myself that since I'm usually gone for most of the summer I can stick out the remaining months with just fan power, then curse my cheap indecision.

It's no different this time. I fucking hate summer in this country.

The current temperature in the Sweat Lodge -- that's the second most unbearable room in my house -- is 31 �C. And that's with all windows & doors open & a big fan running. Seems like it's always 31 �C in there, no matter what, no matter when, even at 1 in the morning. The first most unbearable room is the bathroom connected to the Sweat Lodge, which is hotter still and catches zero breeze.

I voted "Yes" (or "of course I have..."). So, why is the Sweat Lodge so friggin' hot, doesn't it have A/C, and if so why don't I turn it on? It's on the top floor, yes, and I would if anyone were in there.

No, no, this is all wrong. The wording should go like this:

1) I hate AC (Air Canada) [with or without the summer]

2) I hate AC (Air Canada) [you can have the summer]

I think that about covers it.

And how about the Koreans?

I just saw a survey showing that 54% of Koreans homes have air-conditioners. That's relatively low for Asia, but higher than the local ownership rates for MP3 players or DVD players.

Luckily, my school pays for 1/2 of such appliances. When I arrived 2 summers ago and they asked if I wanted A/C I laughed. Seriously... dumb question!

These days, I keep my house a degree short of frigid. ITomorrow I'm gonna put a sign on the door that says, "Welcome to the Igloo."

come contract renegotiation time I am gonna ask for air con, only got a couple of small fans going constantly and even with that it's bloody hot in here. It's about thirty degrees in my apartment, don't want another summer like this one. It's a relief to go to school where there's air con.

We have air-con but it's a battle royale between my wife and I to turn it on, off, up or down. I need it. She wants to save money.
