|
|
I'm about to buy some running shoes, I usually run for an hour or so most days and buy a pair of shoes about every 3 months. What shoes do you recommend? I've used Nike and New Balance in the past. I need a shoe with good cushioning from toe to heel. Is there anywhere in Seoul that have the best prices?
I'm starting to get a collection of shoes. They are in very good condition obviously not good for running long distance but is there anywhere in Korea to donate old shoes/clothing? |

There are two brands that runners seem to particularly prefer, Asics & New Balance.
I'm an Asics man. I have to admit that I've never tried New Balance so I can't recommend them myself. They look a little bulky to me.
I once picked up a pair of Asics at a store in the U.S. and they've been my choice to run with ever since.
If you want either of these shoes, just head to their respective boutiques all over Korea. |

I stick to the Saucony Jazz line as I go for bounce and cushion. Why not have several different varieties if you run that much? I did back in the day when I ran an hour as well and it helps your feet so much more. Get a couple different types of shoes that feel good and alternate them every other day. |

I can't run anymore because of a neck injury two years ago. (Doctor's orders - stick to swimming or biking or best of all, walking). But I still have my pair of Saucony Matrix. Great shoes.
Nike and Asics have also been good for me over the years.
Every pair of New Balance I've ever had have caused blisters; they just don't seem to fit me right. |

I like Asics. I have used them for years and never had a problem with them. |

New Balance is the only company that makes my size, so I can't comment on the others... If you have an odd size/shape/pronation New Balance is the only way to go. Maybe that's your problem Woland; your feet are too normal |

I bought New Balance for the first time and really like them. I alternate shoes each day, NB and Nike Pegasus. Think I'll try Asics or Saucony next. |

A couple of years ago I was introduced to Brooks Adrenaline shoes. I'm a borderline "heavy runner" (weight, not distance) so I was looking for something that would hold up to the pounding. They were perfect right out of the box...never caused blisters, my knees and ankles quit aching and they worked well on either streets or trails. My only real knock on them is that the cushioning seemed to break down suddenly. I was fine one day and the next it seemed that the achy joints had returned for no special reason. I still love the Adrenalines, but I've been rotating them with other shoes.
Currently my other 2 pair, which are acceptable but not as special as the Brooks, are Asics 1100 and Adidas Supernova Cushion. All were brought from the States, so I'll be shopping for new shoes sometime soon.
Has anyone had issues with the fit of shoes bought in Korea? I bought a pair of (definitely real, not fake) Adidas in Shanghai a couple of years ago. After I got back to the States and put on my regular runners, I realized that the Chinese shoes were much narrower than my American-bought ones. I'm really picky about the fit of my running shoes, so I'm leary of buying them in Korea if they're going to end up sitting on the shelf. |

Might be the only part that is normal, but I doubt it, not at size 13. |
