i really got sick and tired of always thinking about and planning my next ciggie break. where would i go, do i have a backup plan if route 1 is blocked, what if i run out of time, what if (gasp!) a student or coworker requires some of my time and i run out of time for my ciggie break? etc. the only one i really enjoyed was the first of the day, because it broke the withdrawal period caused by sleeping. actually a lot of people think the withdrawals are the worst part about quitting, but if they were so bad then no smoker would get a full night's sleep ever, as they'd keep waking up every hour or so to smoke and stop the craving. most of the pain is mental.
having said that, nicotine was still very important when i was stopping smoking. i set a date to stop, used the strongest patches and gum, used the patches for a month on each strength level and was prepared to chew gum for a while after the last patch. everyone's different, but i found that flooding my system with nicotine really helped me get through the first month in a fairly relaxed mood, considering. i also seem to think that being deprived of the other chemicals present in ciggies can make the withdrawal process difficult.
good luck if you're thinking of quitting.

I started dipping Copenhagen at about age 14 and was nastily opposed to smoking.
I made the switch to cigs at 20~21. I suppose I was already addicted, and smoking
is more convenient while drinking. I think it relaxes me, either way.
Nicotine as well as having something to do with my mouth or hands.

BUT having watched my Dad die of lung cancer (quickly, 6 weeks from diagnosis to death)
it's almost becoming more stressful to light up.

whoa, jinju, stop the attack! i bet you eat kimchi, right? that noxious gas exiting your mouth after a kimchi fest is just as offensive. people stink all the time, from their mouths, armpits, butts, wherever. perhaps you have something deeper against the smoker than you're letting on... c'mon, it's ok, you can open up.

Sorta reminds me of every post you make in otherwise enjoyable threads.

Yah? Does inhaling it cause cancer and heart disease? Stuff your cigs up the OTHER orifice, the one that smells better by comparison.

Do I tell them of every single instance of these annoyances? No, I do not. I do not have time in my day ... the only advantage I can see in not smoking is that it frees up a lot of time people can spend complaining about other people. Me, I'd rather just take a few minutes here and there and enjoy myself.

Go ahead, tell me I'm wrong.

i think even you realize how wrong you are. Just afraid to admit it.

Yer a moron. What part of their annoying appearence pollutes YOUR lungs and causes cancer and heart disease? Some people dont want toxic SHIT spewed in their direction, do you understand that or has the nicotine caused you brain damage?

I find smoking completely disgusting but I let people make their own choice on the matter. Seoul is polluted enough though and with 52% of adult Korean males smoking making it worse, it does bother me somewhat. Not going to lose any sleep over it though.

dude, you gotta chill out. sounds like you hate me and don't even know me, judging purely on the fact that i smoke. well, bro, i could assume much more about you merely from other threads. and i'm still not gonna make that judgment. i think that your stress level will kill you far sooner than any possible cancer may kill me.

I only smoke while drinking which is only once in a great while. It's kinda like....cake and ice cream. It just goes together. It's still a nasty habit, but I don't smoke any other time. So I only smoke in bars or kalbi joints (No, not THOSE kinda joints) so if you don't like it simply don't go to bars.

side track! Jinju! I've been reading this forum off and on for almost a year and in the beginning I thought your posts (and pictures) were pretty cool, but MAN have you ever turned to the dark-side of the posts! Are you all right? I ask with the utmost sincerity. Whatever's happened I hope you recover. I'll even make ya a deal: You lighten up and I'll stop smoking entirely! (Actually I'm going to stop anyways, but what the hey!) Just concerned and I think the rest of you should be too instead egging him on.

"Kalbi-joints"...."Puff, puff, GIVE MAAAN!" sorry, my imagination got the better of me! Well, they're lit with an open fire and you wrap it in leaves of lettuce and.....ok, I'll submit already!

I've always liked the smell of cigarettes, even when I was a kid and hadn't ever had one. To me, the smell of cigarette smell is like the smell of barbecue or incense, just another enjoyable smell, if you're in the mood for it.

There's a true Canadian!

I allow myself the pleasure of 2 cigars at a sitting, twice a year-I saw the addiction and the effects of chain smaoking cancer sticks-no thanks.

Just put a little bit of vinegar out for a visual effect-but it's the patriotic duty of Canqadians to pay their 'fair share' of taxes!
