Hello. I know this is probably a simple question, but I'm not really good with computers. I own a laptop, and was wondering what is a good way to get more memory to store all my files (mostly music). I hate deleting files to make space, and even though I burn my data/files onto cds, I would rather have them all in one place (i tend to misplace things).
Is an external harddrive the way to go? WHat about a zip drive? (I'm not even really sure what a zip drive is). How much do they run around in Korea (Ballpark if possible)?

You can get an external hard-drive (like your c: drive) that plugs into a USB slot for about 150k won and a size of up to 300 Gigs (300,000 megabytes). The case is about 30-50k won and the drive is about 100k won. It will plug into the wall for power and not be a drain on your systems power supply.
Great for spare storage/file backup for your laptop.
Zip drives were limited to about 100 megs.
a CD-R is 700 megs.

1 Gig is 1000 megabytes, so I'd say yeah. |

Yeah, external USB is the best way to go for high storage at a decent price, plus you can easily share the drive between other computers if you need to. |

In a perfect world, it would be so easy, but it's not. In actual fact 300,000 mb = 292.96875 gb.
Note, the space that you store your files on is called a hard drive or a hard disk while memory is what is used to cache programs when they startup or run. |

| Large USB external hard drives are for a fool. Especially if you have a laptop. The transfer speed between a USB port is not good enough to handle large media files so your files will not move between drives as well and sometimes take a large chunk of your CPU to do so. With a laptop you will also find that with the hard drive is bulking and not easy to move around if you ever want to use what your laptop is design for... portability. I would suggest getting a flash drive or an MP3 since most of your files are music. Must PC formated MP3's are flash drives that you can use for music or storage too. I have a Samsung 1GB MP3 that I use as a flash drive too. It's small and portable. Very easy to use. 10GB - 30GB is more the standard now. |
