Uh, I think they've already coped. Ever read any history around 1861-65? The American Civil War cost more American soldiers lives than the Spanish-American War, World War 1, World War 2, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Gulf War and Afghanistan combined. American women obviously had the grit to make it through all of those conflicts (sometimes in combat situations). Do you mean if it were to happen again on American soil?

Well, maybe you can find some interesting people in the hard working Ajumas?

I also have the inclination that the current generation of Korean woman are more concerned with superficial beauty then independence, but so are the men, but then again, not all.

When I look at the older generation, the faces speak of hardship. Just compare an older generation with the younger ones.

Koreans are spoiling their kids, but not all of them.

same with any race or creed, man or woman. it takes a whole bloody lot to find the person you want to be with. korean, mexican, canadian, martian... to say korean ladies are more vain than western women clearly shows a lack of knowledge of western women.

sorry, but any woman who is pleasing to the eye who doesn't have a personality and at least some intelligence isn't hot. i don't care what race they are.

er, yes, i agree. when it comes to being with somebody. but to look at, to simply admire beauty (without a knowledge of personality), the local ladies shine. lady icons in the west (i.e. the britney spearses, cameron diazes) share a similar trait.

if i want to date a lady, i'll take the appropriate steps in order to find a compatible match. if i want to simply look at a lady, i'll do just that.

...and hell, we all look at ladies don't we? ladies, don't you look at men? isn't that the thing that makes the world go 'round?

A lot of western men nowadays were raised by women, myself included. Single mothers:had to be much tougher than the average Korean. My ma learned how to fix the house, get stuff done etc as the sole parent of 4 kids. You grow up with an image of womanhood quite different to the helpless bambi-types Korea specialises in.

Without responsibilities, socialisation, emotional and practical experience, many korean women act like western 13 yr olds do. Of course after they've been married for a bit they get sense. The best k-women are married or divorcees i find.

Head over to the local traditional fruit, vegetable, fish market down those narrow streets. Check out the ajummas there. She chops up fish on a wooden board with no nonsense. Pick up a heavy basin filled with onions or apples, tip it into a plastic bag with one strong hand and arm. These are the suntanned ajummas who are as natural as stones in the mountains. Armwrestlers, lumberJacylyns....

Then there are the princesses you describe....Barbie, Barbie, Barbie...preoccupied with superficialities...running from their country Ajumma roots.....run Barbie, run!.....dragging Ken....the poodle.....etc...

Now, I don't mean to sound insensititve, but you mean your father died or didn't help raise you, right?

Is it only Korean women you find unattractive or all women, everywhere? If so you could be asexual or one of the other variants - which is nothing to worry about. That said, I'm not exactly smitten by the local ladies either. Although a lot of them are quite nice people a lot seem like they're missing a few crucial neurons, too.

Nah my father didn't die, although I sometimes wished that he did. Maybe someday I will make that wish come true. j/k

Next you will be telling me western women spend more time staring into the mirror than korean women. Korean women are ultra vain, it's a fact of life

i agree, but your statement "you have to meet a lot of vain, uninteresting ones before you find one" that you like can apply to all women, all men.

you don't go down the street in toronto and point your finger at any woman and think, "this one's perfect, she's doesn't seem vain or uninteresting", only to find out later the opposite.

my point is that you've got to get to know the person. then you can make the judgment.

yeah- a lot of the interesting ones leave. they have plans and ambitions etc.

being raised by a single mother- a generation of westerners had this due to the break up of the family in our society. it means that boys grow up without male role models and get a lot of their values and ideas from their mothers. its unbalanced. However i don't follow the idea that this has resulted in a generation of effeminate men. If you look at history, most/many men were raised with their fathers largely absent. away fighting battles and so on.

If it impacts your sexuality at all, it makes you more understanding of women i think.

The western approach to women and our cultural ways of dating etc are almost polar opposite to korean expectations. No wonder being with Asian women is fraught with a multitude of miscommuniations and misunderstandings. eaither side assumes the other thinks and acts the same as they do.

K-women and men have in abundance a lot of personality traits which are held in contempt by westerners. we value independence and self reliance from a young age. we value emotional and sexual experience.
i look at k-men playing computer games all day, showing off like teenagers, being over emotional and irrational, having everything done for them, and I think how pathetic. I see k-women checking themselves in the mirror all day, playing the spoiled materialistic princesses, and valuing money above all else, and I think , how pathetic. mind they have their advantages too.
