Do schools have to pay the tax, to the government, right away or can they wait until the end of the year?
I need to know because I want to be sure the school actually paid the withheld tax to the government, ASAP. Thanks. |

No they don't. They usually pay the taxes a couple of times a year only...January and June I think.
You'd have to check with the local tax office. They can tell you whether any tax has ever been paid and when it is expected. They can tell you whether the hogwon is actually registered or not. |

So, if I contact the tax office, right now, will there be a record of what I have paid in since April or will I have to wait until the end of the year to check?
Info is much appreciated. |

You can check anytime. Just pop in and if you can get the lazy buggers to search their "computer" records you'll have some kind of answer.
Be ware, unless it's the main office in Seoul, based on my experience, you may not be happy at all when you leave. It may be like pulling teeth to get them to do their actual job.
For a country that wants to crack down on tax cheats, they are woefully evasive when actually handed a tax cheat on a silver platter because they still have to actually do some investigation.
