We got back from our vacation to find that our internet wasn't working. The internet guy came yesterday, and he said that the line had been cut- the most likely suspect was someone from a competing internet service provider. I was astounded. Maybe I'm naive, but I just can't believe this kind of thing happens, especially among large, established companies. My husband gave me another example. Say there are some small Chinese delivery restaurants that are in close competition with each other. He said one restaurant may come across the dirty dishes left outside the door of a customer's apt. Well, the guy might steal the dishes that belong to the other restaurant. To me, I guess that sounds slightly more understandable (stll lame, though). But between 2 large, established internet providers?! Also, this shady practice affects the consumer, whereas the Chinese restaurant example is just between the 2 (or more) competitors.
Anybody seen anything else like this, especially when it directly affects the consumer? I hope this doesn't happen again... No way to prevent it, though |

It is not done necessarily on purpose.
I worked for an ISP.
What could have happened is that this person needed to pull a new line to the incoming connection, he thought yours wasn't used anymore, pulled it out and plugged his.
Trust me happens more then you think. |
