1TB drives due out later this year. Even better news for when I put together my new system next year. buying 2 of these and the two 250gb drives I've got now and I'll be set for a long long long time.

Desktop hard drives holding 1 terabyte, or 1,000 gigabytes, of storage will likely debut in 2006, according to Bill Healy, senior vice president of product strategy and marketing at Hitachi Global Storage Technologies. These drives, which will have a 3.5-inch diameter, are expected to be incorporated into PCs and home servers. |

I go with porn (and mp3s, torrent downloads, etc). Back in 1997, before broadband was common in Canadian homes, this guy at work used to use the company's fractional T1 to scoop up massive amounts of porn. He'd burn these to CDs and then sell them out of the back of computer magazines like Toronto Computes. His little op was discovered when my friend did a search on the network for a splash screen image. He grepped for splash*.jpg. In his words, what he found wasn't no splash screen. |

Ten years ago, I remember asking myself, "What do I need this 1GB drive for?" |

I remember, back when I had a 2 MB hard drive, thinking that the new 200 MB HDs I had just heard about would take a lifetime to fill.
I won't be making that mistake again! |

It was actually a reference to what Bill gates once said about RAM. |
