I went to check out a job opportunity at the aforementioned and he told me the school's name change, from "Pagoda" , which it had been for for five years, was because they wanted too much for use of the name.
I later today found the school was "Pagoda" for only a year. I'd let him stretch on 6 months or so but not a 4 year overstatement. 
I'm posting this because it's annoying that the guy, even though he knew I was'nt fresh off the boat, told me a stupid lie. 
Any "Best lies", or should I say "Most pointless lies" to share...? plenty I suspect.
Not with a bargepole.

"I don't like soju" (walk into a soju bar and seeing the guy with his buddies) |

One of my "favorite" lies "Oh,don't worry.We are not like the rest of those OTHER hakwons.WE are a REAL school.WE are an HONEST school.WE would NEVER cheat you!"  I think this one should almost be called the Hakwon Anthem!
That bargepole comment is interesting.I have also heard "ten foot pole"As in "I would not touch any hakwon with a ten foot pole!" |
